I didn't really appreciate the "dynamic island" at the top of the screen until today

This would work just as well without an island
They made sure it doesn’t though otherwise people might not want to upgrade their phone
If you have multiple live activities in the island you can swipe through them.
I was today years old when I learned you could swipe
I’m still on a phone without the Dynamic Island. It’s weird how old it feels, yet I’ve never used it.
that’s a cool feature i guess. every once in a while i get some interest in iOS but it being such an incredibly walled garden with only the tiniest of technically compliant escape hatches and only in the EU really dampens my enthusiasm. the depth sensor for scanning your face is a neat idea and imo warrants the massive notch, i think i prefer fingerprints though. seems like a simpler idea for authentication, and with auth and security simple is always better.
They got that on android as well and have been loving it. Just tell them who I like, and within an hour of the game starting, it sits at the top. If you click it, a larger bubble opens with some more details.

My only complaint is that it’s such a pain to dismiss. I’ve opened up Apple Sports so many times on accident while trying to do something else because my team scored a run and there is this big notification taking up the top quarter of my screen for 2 minutes
