And if the Shoe 1, and Apple’s running shoe emoji, feel oddly familiar, it’s because their designs are similar to the silhouette of the New Balance 574 sneaker that was first introduced in 1988. Although Steve Jobs was known for wearing New Balance sneakers, he was most often seen in the brand’s 991 and 992 designs.
