And then their battery exploded and everyone at Apple laughed. The end.

You’re probably jesting, but I can’t see this happening because AFAIK iOS is imaged for specific phones - it’s not like Windows where it’s a generic software for any iPhone, it’s a .ipsw image that is iOS 26 for iPhone 14 Plus for example.
I think it’s an improvement overall, but there are places where background tinting on the glass and blurring should be stronger in order to improve contrast/readability. I still want pre-iOS 7 design back, though. Miss that aesthetic.

Same here. Just upgraded and despite disliking the initial reveal this is pretty good. Feels playful and just a little less corporate.
On iOS I do like that toolbars get out of your way a bit more.
What’s funny is Google has the same idea with material design, but they just stuck big annoying floating buttons on top of the content. It wasn’t a bad idea, the execution was poor.
Editing that idea back and doing regular buttons and transforming the toolbars on iOS is an improvement.
Readability is better than I anticipated, except the clock and battery indicators need more definition.
I’m not a fan of this on my Mac though. I’ve found a ton of bugs there, it’s inconsistent, performance bugs and freezes, and the toolbar settings result in breaking behaviour per app.

Please tell me Apple accidentally left the OS version check off and everyone still rocking an old 3.5" iPhone just got an update notice.
And then their battery exploded and everyone at Apple laughed. The end.

It does feel a bit like it went back full circle…
I wish. So much more readable.
I don’t hate it.
It’s better than I thought.

Yeah the toolbars are the best upgrade
I hope my wife doesn’t update by mistake. I would hear about that every day for some weeks.
I thought the same but my wife actually is indifferent to it for the most part. What she does like is message backgrounds.
Pre-iOS 7 design with a dark mode would be amazing TBH
Shoop (can tell from pixels)
It’s a step towards bringing Frutiger Aero back and I’m all for it.
