“Cyber criminals gain unauthorized access to home networks by either configuring the product with malicious software prior to the users purchase or infecting the device as it downloads required applications that contain backdoors, usually during the set-up process,” explains the FBI.

So why isn’t the FBI working around the clock to find out how devices are being infected with malware before entering customer’s homes? Seems to me that’s the really big story here. They should be compiling a list of products, recalling them, and fining the costs back to the manufacturer or whatever financial and legal recourse is available to provide justice for the victims.
