Actually not what? And yes, I know. Apparently they think that’s a bad fit for the thing they’re doing. If you disagree, it’s open source, fork it and implement it.

Another potential technology they could use would be Matrix, so that servers can send commands to each other in real time. It's better suited for this kind of interactive services than ActivityPub is. Or you could also try XMPP with extensions.

ActivityPub does support extensions (looking at you, ForgeFed, as an example), but you can be right depending on which protocol they could choose
