I hope they’re saying “the AT protocol is obviously an attempt by Twitter Rasputin to subvert the fediverse and create his own black-mirror version” and “while it might seem innocuous to just allow interoperability with the AT protocol, everything that strenghten the legitimacy of the AT protocol and works with it, empowers it, it is just another blitzscale play where you’ll under discover the trap once it’s too late”

There does not have to be a “winning” protocol.

Actually, from the perspective of investors looking to make a profit off of Bluesky there does?

The ActivityPub people are naive as heck if they think this is an innocent situation, a LOT of money is at stake. Words about this just being a positive relationship are meaningless in reassurance.

I agree. And If AT was fully divorced from bluesky/investors then this would be a completely different conversation.

I saw a breakdown of the true federation of AT and its mostly on one source.

Yeah and like that is cool, all the smartest most hardworking people involved with ActivityPub can laugh in my face saying these are nonsense concerns and I will continue to be realistic about human beings, greed and money.

Of course the ActivityPub developers see it as a friendly relationship, this is what they are experts about why would corporations burn that bridge before they consolidate control?

There doesn’t have to be a “winning” protocol because insufferable obnoxious Twitter refugees need a home, and that home is Bluesky, which keeps literal millions of them the hell out of my fedi.

It’s a good thing.
