No Lemmy, Piefed, Mbin? 😔

It’s a start. And still a doorway into the fediverse. The average person doesn’t care about reddit Lemmy or mbin. They care about Instagram pixelfed and twitter mastodon bluesky.

They will quickly find bluesky enshitifying out of necessity. And the fediverse will be there to catch them.

Indeed, but it would have been helpful to promote those 3 a bit

Ah yes, just like it happened with Twitter! (or you’re not talking about average person but techies)

Yep, just like the Internet was only for techies.

I’ve seen before it has been brought up in Linus’ longform streams.

If only they would get on peertube

I wish everyone would get on PeerTube but also I can’t really blame them because Peertube kinda sucks right now. They are slowly getting better. Some simple things would instantly make it a lot better:

  1. Instances actually federated with each other.
  2. Instance owners could create a curated feed of recommended accounts like you can on Mastodon.
  3. Larger instances didn’t block federation requests from smaller ones like mine.
  4. Any of the “discover” feeds actually worked.
  5. Much like Mastodon, it’s chock-full of content erroneously labeled as English.
