Does anyone know if I can download a lemmy post, including all of its replies as a PDF or similar easy-to-read file?

Thanks!

If you’re using a browser, you can use the SinglePage extension to save a local copy of the thread, images and all. You may have to expand comments, though.

I was going to say this but using the print to PDF functionality in most OSes

Lemmy has no print stylesheet

Probably true, worth pointing out I browse with the “old.” theme when I’m at my computer which doesn’t come out bad at all given it’s pretty basic HTML (just tried it on my phone too, which is something I wasn’t sure would give a good result)

You’re right though, it would be a good pull request to the Lemmy UI to add a print stylesheet

Any web page can be printed. Any print can be sent to a PDF generator. It might not look super pretty, but it’ll get the job done. I recommend making sure you’re on light mode before you print though, because dark mode has grey text instead of black.

What platform/device?

Looking at the Firefox Librewolf "print preview" it does actually look quite easy to read.

I wonder how many of my stupid comments on lemmy have been converted to PDF, printed on paper, and stored in a filing cabinet.

Alternatively, save the HTML and print as PDF.
