I’m one of those new active users. I started to watch peertube regularly. Largely thanks to !peertube@lemmy.wtf and their channel suggestions.

warmaster@lemmy.world on 21 Apr 06:03 collapse

Can you login to your account using the peertube app?

squirrel@discuss.tchncs.de on 21 Apr 06:15 collapse

Yes, I’m using the current peertube beta app.

warmaster@lemmy.world on 21 Apr 11:32 collapse

How do you switch to the beta channel?

squirrel@discuss.tchncs.de on 21 Apr 11:51 collapse

It was available as an option on peertube’s play store page.

IndianaJones@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 20 Apr 18:41 next collapse

If only their android app would allow me to sign in with an account

squirrel@discuss.tchncs.de on 20 Apr 19:02 collapse

It’s possible since the latest update a couple days ago.

Only on the beta maybe?

squirrel@discuss.tchncs.de on 20 Apr 20:02 collapse

Oh, you’re right. I forgot I signed up for the beta.

Dariusmiles2123@sh.itjust.works on 21 Apr 07:19 collapse

Oh great you made me discover that on the Beta on ios I can log in.

sevon@lemmy.kde.social on 20 Apr 19:05 next collapse

Okay, I’ll try again.

Ulrich@feddit.org on 20 Apr 20:48 collapse

You should try GrayJay. You can get your YouTube and PeerTube subscriptions in the same feed. Along with a dozen other platforms.

sevon@lemmy.kde.social on 20 Apr 20:54 next collapse

That’s what I use. The peertube plugin wasn’t great.

Ulrich@feddit.org on 20 Apr 21:21 collapse

It doesn’t support login/interaction but subscriptions and searches work fine.

Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world on 20 Apr 21:09 next collapse

My issue is finding peertube content.

“Do you want video on linux?”

“No.”

“Alright. Do you want videos on…linux?”

“NO!”

“Ok, hmmmm…Do you want these 8000+ videos from Veronica making linux content?”

“NO!!!”

“Ok…Veronica just posted a new video 14 seconds ago. I’m just going to leave this here for you.”

leaves peertube

Ulrich@feddit.org on 20 Apr 21:26 next collapse

Yes, discoverability is probably the single biggest problem on PeerTube. If you can be bothered you can post/search the PeerTube community for some suggestions that might match your interests.

AllPintsNorth@lemm.ee on 21 Apr 07:06 collapse

If that’s the solution… then the project has already failed.

Ulrich@feddit.org on 21 Apr 12:48 collapse

Well, it hasn’t, because it can be fixed…

mesamunefire@lemmy.world on 21 Apr 15:17 collapse

Take a look over at !peertube@lemmy.world And our sister community: !peertube@lemmy.wtf

There’s a wide variety of content that is out there.

And if you yourself found something, feel free to post it up on either community!

brisk@aussie.zone on 21 Apr 00:28 collapse

You can also do that in Tubular, if you prefer a FOSS option

Ulrich@feddit.org on 21 Apr 00:35 collapse

Tubular did not work for me at all.

SolarPunker@slrpnk.net on 20 Apr 19:10 next collapse

Good!

electro1@infosec.pub on 20 Apr 19:26 next collapse

Is that so… I’ll sign up

rob200@lemmy.today on 20 Apr 20:11 next collapse

Does that translate to more videos being uploaded?

darkknight@discuss.online on 21 Apr 18:15 collapse

I’m surprised that more creators focused on selfhosting/homelabs are still using youtube.
