I started off using Voyager, swapped to Mlem because of slight differences I preferred. Recently found out Thunder for Lemmy is available on the apple appstore and it instantly became my favorite. I like how unique the ui is compared to other, it seems better suited for browsing and posting on Lemmy, while the others feel better for the initial transition from Reddit. Very suprised it has barely any downloads or reviews when its easily the best Lemmy app on IOS.
Thunder reminds me of the more “modern” alternative front ends for lemmy some sites have while mlem and voyager feel more like the alternative reddit apps (blue alien) and give a similar experience.
On desktop, I’ve been using Friendica.

I’m quite happy with Jerboa on GrapheneOS, and on desktop I prefer to visit Lemmy via Tesseract.
I just started using phtn.app on desktop, saw it on a lemmy comment recently, supports multiple account login, havent tried tesseract on desktop, was setting up a friendica, but got lazy (like how you see comments along with the post on the feed, but you gotta manually sub to everything)
You had me going there! I thought Tesseract was something to do with OCR.
I like how the thunder app shows what update the instances you are logged into are on, lemmy.world is so far behind the others lol
I use Voyager on Android. It’s a quality app that just works. On my iPad I use a safari plug in called sink-it.
I was swapping back and forth between that and mlem for a while, I like the custom interaction bar in mlem. Feels nice to finetune, but voyager just works and has plenty of settings to get the necessary customizations. I like that the issue for me is that they are all good, so I just end up using them all.
I’m stuck with voyager now that I’ve invested lots of time into their tagging system.
I’m a bit confused. Looking at the App Store Sink it appears to only be for Reddit/Twitter and not Lemmy or am I missing something?

The user tagging and vote counter is the no.1 Voyager feature for me that isn’t on any other app as far as I know.
I’m using Eternity, I haven’t tried more so I can’t compare, but I liked Eternity enough to don’t have the need to try others.
I already used Infinity for Reddit (which Eternity is based on) so it made the migration from Reddit to Lemmy really smooth for me.
Same, tried voyager for a while but came back to this because I love the UI of it.
I like Eternity but i have two problems with it:

Comments, yes. In Thunder there’s a button and you just do a press.
You actually can, just scroll left when formating the comment.

I used eternity for a long while, but it is buggy and development is slow (if not dead?). So I switched to the Voyager android app and never looked back.
I try to use Thunder but still mostly use my instance’s tesseract UI when I need to do moderation as Thunder lacks them.
I’m a big fan of using https:// in Mull on my Android, and in Firefox on my PC.
Never been a fan of installing more apps then necessary.
On desktop, either the vanilla PWA for Lemmy, or alexandrite.app. I Really like alexandrite.
On the phone, I flip between Thunder, Summit, Sync, and Connect. Gotta keep a tab on how they develop, and I like them all, for different reasons.
Edit: my current preferred client on mobile is Thunder. Like you say, it feels like a modern way of browsing Lemmy, it’s really good.

Same. The dev is very active and open to suggestions. I’ve been using it for a couple of months now and it’s working great.
Jerboa on Android. I don’t really visit Lemmy anywhere else.
Arctic on iOS; prefer it to Voyager, Mlem, and Thunder due to having more customization options.
I tried it for a while, but it left the rotation, I barely checked the customization options on that one tho, ill give it another try, when I had media not shwoing up or working on the other apps it still worked in Arctic everytime.
Something that only it seems to have, versus the others I compared it to, is a “headline” view for the feed. It’s essentially an extra compact version of the compact view, putting the post’s community name in line with the upvote, downvote, comment counts and post age. Only saves a bit of space compared to the comparison I made a few minutes ago in trying Thunder’s compact view, but most of all it makes the feed less cluttered, in my opinion.
I enjoy customization more than using stuff sometimes, so I’m really enjoying all the options these apps have, voyagers got relatively less customization but I like that too, kinda like both extremes of heavy customization and being forced to use a certain ui thats been optimized.
It also feels more natural. It seems it was actually written in swift. Other apps feel like they were written in some framework, which causes inconsistencies from the rest of iOS.
It’s also in constant development. I’m on the TestFlight and contribute via bug reports if I find any. I love seeing the new updates.
Sync on Android. I’ll go down with the ship, I guess. If ljdawson never comes back I’ll be forced to look into other options eventually, but for now it still works, despite some bugs. It just looks and feels the best to me, and I’ve yet to find another app that can exactly replicate how I have it set up.
Excellent, just the example I needed to prevent me from examining my own use of Sync. I picked it up straight off of RiF and it’s been mostly fine. Spoilers rarely work and sometimes it just straight up can’t “fetch the image,” but I can do the things I care about, like downvoting and making ad hominem attacks. 10 out of 10 for me.
Thunder can be used for that too, you blithering imbecile.

I’m in the same boat. The ads have become terrible for me so I’m in the market for a new app anyway. I was hesitant to purchase a subscription because of the low number of releases.

I used it until recently thinking the same, but it just became too broken for me. I’m on thunder now and I got it to work exactly the way I used sync and everything seems to actually be working.
Same boat. I’m really happy with my current look and feel, and I have no reason to change at this time.
I use sync occasionally, and I found it has some features literally no other app has (or I’m too dumb to find them) like easy instance switching. It’s right there on the main screen, you just click instances, pick a federated instance, and boom, now you’re seeing stuff from that instance. I wish more apps has that.
I was in the same boat as you, but I discovered Summit this week. I feel like it fixes a couple of annoyances from Sync.
I was a Sync user on Reddit. Thunder has reproduced that feel for me here. The one place it didn’t I contributed (2-column tablet mode)
Connect for Android was my jam, but now that I'm on Mbin I'm liking Interstellar (which also works with Lemmy).
Connect is the most like the reddit is fun client. How i like to shitpost and see content

Absolutely Thunder for android. Easy, customizable, and is very similar to the app I used for reddit called Relay. Dunno how an apk could be better for using Lemmy.

I was a RIF user and therefore Jerboa comes naturally to me.
Summit is my favorite after testing Thunder, jerboa and Boost.
I’ve tried almost every Android app for Lemmy, and holy heck, do I love Summit the most. It does everything I need it to and more. It looks great. It’s responsive. And the dev is amazing. They respond to bugs, issues, and feature requests lightning fast. No ads. Not FOSS, which is the only thing I’ve seen anyone gripe about.
Been using it almost exclusively for a year or so now, and I can’t praise it enough.

I seriously worry about coming off creepy or insincere, or else I would shower you with praise more constantly! Your app has made my experience here so much better, and I’m grateful for the things you’ve added to it, sometimes I’m sure, just for me.
You’ve always been really friendly and helpful and lightning fast fixing any issues, and you obviously put a lot of time and work into developing and maintaining the app, and you don’t ask for money or have ads or anything.
None of the other apps are bad or anything, but I still think yours offers the most and the best for me, and how I don’t see Summit near the top of every best Lemmy app posts is crazy to me.
Using Summit on Android. I tried Thunder and Jerboa, but Summit has been the best.
I downloaded thunder and voyager. The cards are way too small on thunder so I’m using voyager.
You can make them fullsize? They can take up your whole screen if you want in thunder lol
I looked in the settings and there was just compact and cards and the cards are half the size of the ones in voyager.
Boost in Android works reliably. I haven’t really used anything else.
I have used others and to me nothing else has the right blend of stability, performance, good defaults, and ability to customize. Boost is best on android.
Eternity. As lacking in updates it may be, still woks well, and it is super customizable.
Haven’t looked around for a while, but I’ve settled on Voyager.

Sadly, F-Droid tries to share the actual binary not a link to it via F-Droid (a la Google Play).
I have the reference application, Jeroba, installed but I don’t really like it and haven’t seen it updated for a while.
Apollo was the best Reddit app on iPhone. Voyager continues its legacy
I loved Apollo! I randomly chose Voyager as my first introduction to Lemmy and it’s been great so far
Boost, it was the perfect Reddit client for me and now it’s the perfect Lemmy client, I didn’t have to sacrifice any aspect of the experience.

Currently using Voyager on my Android phone. I like it. Quite the upgrade over Boost (which I was using before, as I really liked Boost for Reddit in the before-times).
Don’t like going into Lemmy on PC, though. It looks fugly as hell, and the UI looks like something from the 90s. I wonder if there’s a different way of accessing Lemmy through my browser.
Ton of alternate frontends mentioned here, I like phtn.app, you can loginto multiple accounts from different instances, tesseract is also nice.
I’m trying out Thunder and it seems great but I can’t figure out how to show the upvote counts. Not sure if it’s a bug or a setting I need to change.
Settings for each individual user, easy to change, goto settings and theres one long menu item that says individual feed settings, then its just toggling show upvotes/downvotes on, some instances had it off by default

Its either there or in the indiviudal post/comment settings, I think I added showing the buttons there since I prefer that to gestures

Lemmy on desktop, though it has issues. Logs me out when opening a post, seems to occasionally roll me back a page too far when backing out of a post, and the UI can be scrolled out of sight on firefox.
Im liking phtn app so far, tesseract is also nice for desktop

Voyager on iOS has worked well enough I haven’t gone hunting for anything else. On desktop I like the Alexandrite front end.
Voyager is my go to. But it doesn’t load Redgifs for me. Which isn’t a deal breaker as I do most of my browsing at work, but there are times when no one’s looking so it’d be nice to have.
Give Arctic a try. Just a little bit smoother and some great customisation options.

Infinity is/was my favorite for Reddit on Android, and Voyager is close enough. Just frilly enough, images/videos embed okay (though need some improvements to saving/downloading), and it just works.
I’ve had the least issues with voyager, its the fastest and least buggy ive used, but also the least customizable, just works tho which is nice

I use connect it works as well as any reddit 3rd party client does. Tried a few other but I like connect best.
I used connect for nearly 2 years, I like the way it looks and operated and was fairly happy, however after an update this week that introduced a shit load more bugs and didn’t really fix any of the outstanding ones I finally got sick of it.
So this week I have been using Voyager all week, think I’m gonna jump around a few different ones and try and find a new place to stay.

Sidenote, Feditext has become my favorite iphone app for Friendica, Mastodon, and Pleroma (supports misskey/sharkey too but I dint have an instance) I tried fedicat and metatext, fedicat is my least favorite with one menu/page for every single feed/profile/notification options. Metatext is sinilar to feditext but lacks some discoveribility features. Like that we’re getting more apps that support multiple apps.

Jerboa has always been great to me. Android. It uses old reddit style and reminds me of Baconreader
I tried Jerboa and Voyager on Android before settling down with SUMMIT. I haven’t found a reason to change since.
Still exploring but why I like Voyager over Mlem is that Voyager can load embeds where Mlem doesn’t seem to have that option. I don’t like to have to tap to see content.
Mlem testflight supports it, but its a bit buggy I couldn’t make posts without crashing, havent checked the most recent update tho
Thunder. I like being able to customize, and it has just about everything.
Currently using Arctic for iOS. I was using Voyager for a while, but the Arctic dev (devs?) are so good about bug fixes and adding new features, I had to switch.
I have to get around to customizing it, thunder is mostly solid, a bit laggy sometimes, arctic is prob a better move on ios, I just wanted to get used to it, since piefed is forking thunder for their ios app and that will probably be my main eventually. Arctic is definitely more optimized for ios and the fastest I’ve used.
I just really love the default ui of thunder, it nailed what I want for lemmy usage, makes the ocassional lage/wrrors less of an issue. Also like consistent ui across devices, but I find it too annoying to type on my tablet to browse lemmy there.
