No conflict of interest, I only saw the poject via Mastodon.

From the website:

Fediverse, Mastodon, and beyond

Gorgeous album pages

Audio streaming

Tour dates and tickets

Music discovery? Online sales? Analytics? There’s a lot more in store as the community grows.

Doesn’t seem like it’s open source. Am I mistaken?

No license file (yet?), but source code (or something like that) is on github: github.com/EmissarySocial/bandwagon

It seems like it’s an example app built with the Emissary Social Toolkit: emissary.dev github.com/EmissarySocial/emissary AGPL3

“This is a 100% open source effort, so you could even roll your own, if you want.”

halm@leminal.space on 27 Jun 07:35 collapse

Huh. There is a worrying lack of license information, yes. I didn’t even notice.

This seems like a FOSS bait and switch. Yall gotta start getting the message: The profit is the problem.

This is not a federated bandcamp, it’s a platform for bands to do marketing across mutliple various social networks from one web portal.

Do we like it though? It seems like a good thing (anything has to be better than the currently broken system right?), but after reading some of the comments I’m not sure.

drspod@lemmy.ml on 27 Jun 00:10 collapse

No, “we” don’t.

Reminds me of this one time at Bandwagon....
