EA Close To Sale That Would Take The Company Private (insider-gaming.com)

The report (paywalled) claims that investors include Silver Lake and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF). This deal, according to the outlet’s sources, could be announced as soon as next week.

Yeah, looks like I’ll be permanently boycotting anything EA now.

Welcome to the club, did that ever since they had diarrhea all over my childhood.

DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world on 26 Sep 20:12 next collapse

EA is still around?

MaggiWuerze@feddit.org on 26 Sep 20:12 next collapse

Going private? Sounds good, less pressure from shareholders… Selling to the Saudis? Hell no! Good thing I was already boycotting them anyway

Now introducing face ID tech that will immediately brick the computer if a woman attempts to play a driving game.

supersquirrel@sopuli.xyz on 26 Sep 20:38 next collapse

Sounds like something Stephen Miller would try to implement.

ThinkBeforeYouPost@lemmy.world on 26 Sep 21:52 collapse

You mean totally normal, “sexual matador”, Stephen Miller, whose wife (who is definitely not a foreign agent or beard) said inspires her every morning with his anti-left rants?

MajorasTerribleFate@lemmy.zip on 28 Sep 16:45 collapse

I love the one response I saw, “wouldn’t that make Katie Miller a sexual bull?” Because there are so many different ways to take it from there, and many don’t paint Stephen Miller in the lights he’d rather be seen publicly.

Jokes on them I’m already wear a burka over my butthole. My call me brown eye girl

Wat

criss_cross@lemmy.world on 27 Sep 02:35 next collapse

They probably want EA for the sports games so they can keep sports washing their atrocities away.

One less launcher I need to figure out in Bazzite

The US doesn’t chop up journalists with a saw just yet.

queermunist@lemmy.ml on 28 Sep 17:24 next collapse

No it just gives bombs to Israel so it can murder them.

ChapulinColorado@lemmy.world on 28 Sep 17:29 collapse

I suppose that’s true. The country is not well liked in Latin America either due to all the meddling they’ve done (which was not properly covered in US history classes).

umbrella@lemmy.ml on 28 Sep 17:49 next collapse

yes they do.

its just out of the public eye, in their torture camps. or abroad.

Eyck_of_denesle@lemmy.zip on 28 Sep 18:13 collapse

As far as the world knows they bomb the journalists house killing the whole bloodline.

caut_R@lemmy.world on 27 Sep 00:12 next collapse

I‘d certainly be interested to see if that‘d change any of their exploitative practices like FUT. Also hopefully that brings Codemasters back to old form… And please bring old online services back up cause money doesn‘t seem to be the issue then lol

anti_antidote@lemmy.zip on 27 Sep 02:04 next collapse

I’m sorry, my brain read FUT as Fear, Uncertainty, and Trout

Cevilia@lemmy.blahaj.zone on 27 Sep 05:30 collapse

You have to understand that a company like EA doesn’t want lots of money. They want all the money.

caut_R@lemmy.world on 27 Sep 10:05 collapse

Yeah, but that‘s usually stakeholder-driven. Of course, it could be all the same if and when they go private, but this move just seems unprecedented to me so it‘s interesting to observe if it does have any impact in this regard.

Kolanaki@pawb.social on 27 Sep 06:42 collapse

I honestly can’t remember a time when EA was well liked. Even in elementary school in the 90’s, it was common for kids to refer to them as Electronic Farts.

sugar_in_your_tea@sh.itjust.works on 28 Sep 18:02 collapse

Really? They had some bangers in the 90s, such as Road Rash and Need for Speed, as well as a ton of great games they published, like Sim City. Even their sports games were generally great.

It wasn’t really until the 2000s and 2010s that their games became money grabs.

DoucheBagMcSwag@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 27 Sep 02:45 next collapse

With Saudis money? Not gonna happen, be prepared for another decade (at least) of EA Sports.

EA - If it’s in the game, it’s in the game 's ingame store as a microtransaction
