Civ VI is pretty cheap right now, grabbing it at the moment for 3€, but that might change from region to region.

The dlcs packs are pretty cheap too.

Personally I found 6 to not be as fun as 5. I still play 5 all the time but I lost interest with 6 after less than 100 hours.

Still though, for that price I’d pick it up just to have tried it.

If you haven’t already tried the DLCs, you should. AI gets very improved and the behaviour is much more normal and humanlike.

bionicjoey@lemmy.ca on 09 Jun 14:17 collapse

Sure. I might as well with this good of a sale.

EncryptKeeper@lemmy.world on 09 Jun 15:18 next collapse

There are things I like and dislike about both, but the district mechanic is something I find hard to live without.

Randomocity@sh.itjust.works on 09 Jun 19:07 collapse

Can you really judge a game that you haven’t even played through once?

mox@lemmy.sdf.org on 09 Jun 19:24 next collapse

If the writing is bad, it’s okay to close the book.

If the acting is poor, it’s okay to leave the cinema.

If the gameplay is unsatisfying, it’s okay to quit.

Life is short. No sense in wasting it on entertainment that isn’t entertaining.

Randomocity@sh.itjust.works on 14 Jun 12:40 collapse

I was just joking that when with that much time spent they hadn’t finished a game

mox@lemmy.sdf.org on 14 Jun 16:31 collapse

Heh. I guess subtlety doesn’t come through very well in messages between internet strangers.

It’s so hard to tell sometimes lol

I have done at least one full playthrough of Civ 6 from ancient era until somebody scored a victory. I did a couple other playthroughs that I ended early. Ultimately I just felt like the whole time I wanted to play Civ 5 more

I chucked!

$2.99 through June 21 in my shop in the US

StrongHorseWeakNeigh@lemmy.world on 09 Jun 13:57 next collapse

Don’t mind if I do.

originalucifer@moist.catsweat.com on 09 Jun 14:07 next collapse

does it work on linux/proton?

fpslem@lemmy.world on 09 Jun 14:12 next collapse

Native support. 👍 I haven’t played it yet, but at this price I’ll give it a try.

originalucifer@moist.catsweat.com on 09 Jun 14:16 next collapse

me toooo. thanks!

RobotZap10000@feddit.nl on 09 Jun 15:01 collapse

It is supported, but some of the DLCs aren’t 🤦‍♀️

Rentlar@lemmy.ca on 09 Jun 15:03 next collapse

Has native Linux support, but if you are playing with friends or other online multiplayer I would recommend the proton version as sometimes updates lag behind.

NaiveBayesian@programming.dev on 09 Jun 20:34 collapse

In my experience it runs much smoother on proton than the native version

Kecessa@sh.itjust.works on 09 Jun 14:36 next collapse

Was free on Epic at some point so check if you already have it if you are someone who claims the free games there

iAmTheTot@sh.itjust.works on 09 Jun 15:02 next collapse

Make sure you don’t already have this from a Humble Bundle a little while back.

dinckelman@lemmy.world on 09 Jun 15:08 next collapse

Are the dlcs worth getting? I only have Rise and Fall. With the current bundle, I could snag the rest of them, for the price of New Frontiers alone. I can’t really say i’m huge into Civ, or knowledgeable about individual leaders though

EncryptKeeper@lemmy.world on 09 Jun 15:17 next collapse

The two big expansion packs absolutely. Leader and civ packs are up to you.

dinckelman@lemmy.world on 09 Jun 19:24 collapse

Ended up buying everything. Comes down to 19 Euro for just about everything, minus the game, and the dlc i already owned, so if I end up playing with friends, it’s not a bad deal at all

Lojcs@lemm.ee on 09 Jun 15:44 collapse

Simon bolivar is broken

LordCrom@lemmy.world on 09 Jun 15:27 next collapse

The problem with 6 is that the play mode is too structured… Especially early on. Theres not much room for custom play… Every game takes on the same form. Civ 4 was the best in series

MajorHavoc@programming.dev on 09 Jun 15:47 collapse

Civ6 was buggy as hell on Switch. Anyone know if it’s stable on PC?

I want the hours I played back before it corrupted my game save, so $3 is still be too much to ask, to me.
