Fishing games?

Looking for fishing games, but not the serious ones, more like Dredge, fishing in Stardew or Animal Crossing, stuff like that.

I heard Moonlight Bay wasn’t good, unfortunately.

since you brought up stardew and ac, fishing doesn’t need to be the main focus/gameplay of the game?

Far Cry 5 has fishing, can’t remember if there’s different fishing gear really.

Warframe has fishing, but it can take quite some time for a new player to get there. The “openworld” areas on planets have spear fishing you can do for faction rep. etc.

Noerknhar@feddit.org on 25 Apr 11:14 collapse

Well, I want to be able to fish more in a cozy environment. Not sure FC and Warframe qualify for that 😉

Malix@sopuli.xyz on 25 Apr 11:18 next collapse

cozy environment

Not sure FC and Warframe qualify for that 😉

but Dredge does? :D

But yea, those games probs won’t do if cozy stuff is the thing here.

edit: Though, Dave the Diver? Not really fishing with a fishing pole or anything, more like, harpoon gun and diving.

Noerknhar@feddit.org on 25 Apr 12:26 collapse

Loved Dave!

Phen@lemmy.eco.br on 25 Apr 11:20 collapse

Have you played any of the harvest moon / story of seasons games? It’s the series that inspired Stardew Valley. Most of them are, in general, much more chill than even Stardew itself. There are a bunch of them on steam (on there, look only for the story of seasons games and ignore the ones named Harvest Moon)

Noerknhar@feddit.org on 25 Apr 12:26 collapse

Amy suggestion on which title to go for? The newest by default?

Phen@lemmy.eco.br on 25 Apr 23:37 collapse

Friends of Mineral Town is a good remake of one of the most beloved entries in the series.

Aielman15@lemmy.world on 25 Apr 11:11 next collapse

It’s not my cup of tea, so I can’t speak by experience, but a friend of mine tried WEBFISHING and loved it.

Noerknhar@feddit.org on 25 Apr 11:15 next collapse

Thanks, I’ll check it out, although it looks a bit dated. Let’s see if it catches me (haha…ha…?)

RiQuY@lemm.ee on 25 Apr 11:24 collapse

That game is abandoned at the moment.

Luthor@pawb.social on 26 Apr 05:31 collapse

I don’t think it’s “abandoned,” I think it’s just “done.” It’s like a $5 indie game made by a solo dev, there isn’t an unfinished road map or anything.

Zarxrax@lemmy.world on 25 Apr 11:53 next collapse

The only fishing game I’ve ever played was The Black Bass on the NES. Being an older game, it has fairly simplistic gameplay that’s actually very similar to the fishing mini games that you see today.

anon6789@lemmy.world on 25 Apr 15:00 collapse

My whole family played the heck out of Super Black Bass! Probably the best fishing I’ve ever had in a game.

Goofy@ttrpg.network on 25 Apr 12:05 next collapse

Fishing paradiso is a mobile fishing game with very simple mechanics, a light hearted story, and a chill vibe. Doesn’t take long to beat, but it’s free

Noerknhar@feddit.org on 25 Apr 12:31 collapse

The game is for free on Google but costs 15€ on Steam? That’s confusing!

I’ll give it a shot!

Goofy@ttrpg.network on 25 Apr 12:54 collapse

I think I might have spent a little money for an ad-free experience on Google, though definitely less than $15

The Yakuza series has surprisingly fun fishing.

anon6789@lemmy.world on 25 Apr 15:01 collapse

The spearfishing minigame in Y6 was way more fun than I’d expected it to be!

Does Dave the diver count?

Noerknhar@feddit.org on 25 Apr 14:46 collapse

It does, I loved it!

Fishing in Red Dead Redemption 2 is very relaxing.

The only game I’ll boot up just to fish in.

Overspark@feddit.nl on 25 Apr 14:04 next collapse

Sea of Thieves is amazing and has some decent fishing. Might want to stay in the single player world if you just want cozy, although a sense of (PvP) danger can definitely liven things up too.

hoshikarakitaridia@lemmy.world on 25 Apr 18:59 next collapse

It has “safe seas” now iirc

Overspark@feddit.nl on 25 Apr 19:05 collapse

Ah, yes, that’s what I meant with single player (or really single ship, since you can play with your friends) mode, couldn’t remember the name

Noerknhar@feddit.org on 25 Apr 19:17 collapse

I never dared to get into the game, it’s intimidating.

Overspark@feddit.nl on 25 Apr 21:26 collapse

It is if you really want to git gud.

But what it also is is the nicest open sea sailing simulator, with awesome ambience and a fantastic world to just sail around in and do some relaxing things like fishing and just exploring all the islands. Especially in Safer Seas mode.

setsneedtofeed@lemmy.world on 25 Apr 14:05 next collapse

Far Cry 5 strangely has very enjoyable fishing.

raltoid@lemmy.world on 25 Apr 19:01 collapse

The varied enviroment really helps.

You can stand on a leafy, forested river bank with deer grazing nearby in the reeds as the sun rises. It can be the dock of a large lake with boats driving by during the day. Or you can be by a tiny rocky mountain lake shore as the sun sets over the distant hills. It’s can be really relaxing(as long as you’ve cleared the are and aren’t attacked by a wild animal)

The games I've really enjoyed fishing in so far have been:

My Time At Portia
Palia
Spiritfarer

Of those 3 I've easily spent the most time in Portia. I really love the fishing in that game and when you get the super valuable fish you really feel like you earnt it :)

Noerknhar@feddit.org on 25 Apr 14:47 collapse

I have Sandrock on PC. Does that also have fishing? 🤔

Novamdomum@fedia.io on 25 Apr 16:16 collapse

Yeah it kinda does. It's this weird sandfishing minigame though with a kind of claw thing that you throw out. Nowhere near as fun as the fishing in Portia imho.

Nice Day for Fishing might be worth checking out. It’s a new game made by the YouTubers Viva La Dirt League. Haven’t played it but looks like a fun twist on a fishing RPG.

Noerknhar@feddit.org on 25 Apr 19:15 collapse

Thank you, I’ll try the demo!

Ok nothing will beat the gold standard that was Sega Dreamcast Fishing games with the rod controller that had a rumble pack for vibration. I had a buddy make a wooden box we could attach a bungie cord to give it more feel when you “pulled” the fish out of water (the box had cutouts to hold beer cans too). Simply the best way to virtually fish

Grangle1@lemm.ee on 25 Apr 17:26 collapse

Although the concept of it being in a Sonic game was pretty silly (and an entire path to play through no less) and the character is really annoying, I heard that even the Big the Cat fishing mode in Sonic Adventure (originally on the Dreamcast) was even good, gameplay-wise. I have played it but I don’t have much experience in other fishing games to compare it to. The only other fishing (mini-)game I have for comparison is the fishing in the 3D Zelda games. Between the two I think I prefer Zelda, though.

RowRowRowYourBot@sh.itjust.works on 25 Apr 19:17 collapse

It was ok but the ocean/sea/bass fishing games were amazing. I really just want a compatible rod controller. I dont even like fishing IRL.

hobbsc@lemmy.sdf.org on 25 Apr 19:20 next collapse

I always find myself coming back to Sega Bass Fishing. The old arcade/Dreamcast game.
