DenuvošŸ’€

bright_side_@lemmy.world on 12 Jun 09:28 next collapse

That’s going to gather some attention from the big publishers.

Would be interested what you fedis think about that?

edit: interested in opinions regarding the news as the game is surrounded by quite a bit of controversy, not ā€œjustā€ the publishers part I mentioned.

duchess@feddit.org on 12 Jun 09:38 collapse

What controversy? That it is a sex doll dress up game disguised as an action game?

DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social on 12 Jun 11:21 next collapse

Don’t be absurd, those have underwear choices

DoucheBagMcSwag@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 12 Jun 11:46 next collapse

I mean…I played it because it looked fun and I did. Yeah it’s gooner bait but the gameplay is pretty good

It plays like baby’s first souls like but that’s enough for me since normally I suck / don’t have time to practice

I really really wanted that Nier automata DLC to be story content instead of just consume masturbait. Even if it was a non canon crossover it would have been wild to have 2B and Eve fighting side by side

Katana314@lemmy.world on 12 Jun 12:17 collapse

One bit that’s nice about being a gooner game is, there’s enough outfit options you can just pick something ā€œcuteā€ and tasteful, and then just play the game. So while many people are ogling, people that are not as interested can just play the game.

EDIT: Adding onto this, though I consider myself a gooner I actually had the opposite reaction to Nier Automata, the game’s carbon copy. I didn’t quite like the bare-ass-thong look of 2B, and it felt like it was consistently distracting enough to make the game’s emotional moments feel silly. At the least, if I put SB’s ā€œEveā€ in a denim skirt, that’s my own choice.

DoucheBagMcSwag@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 12 Jun 12:25 next collapse

That’s exactly how I played it. I picked the motorcycle jacket and jeans / heels combo and red passion.

Plus I may…or may have a thing for jeans and heels.

The naked or barely clothed ones just seemed absurd to me

duchess@feddit.org on 12 Jun 13:58 collapse

One bit that’s a bit distracting about being a gooner game is the thought that the designersā€˜ minds were all over the gooner stuff instead of being focused on the game.

prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone on 12 Jun 10:03 next collapse

That’s because they’re too stupid to re-release Bloodborne in any capacity

pomfegranate@sh.itjust.works on 12 Jun 10:19 next collapse

Thanks for the Denuvo comments, I looked it up and I am no longer interested in this gooner looking game.

For anyone else: whyisdenuvobad.github.io

Link@rentadrunk.org on 12 Jun 11:21 collapse

While I agree that Denuvo is bad, some of the information on that site is just plain wrong.

For example, it says Denuvo doesn’t work on Linux and macOS through wine which is just plain wrong. It works perfectly fine as long as you don’t keep changing wine versions or you will run out of activations for 24 hours.

Your account being disabled if you have a problem with payment methods also needs a giant [citation needed] next to it. Has this ever actually happened or is this made up?

Poopfeast420@discuss.tchncs.de on 12 Jun 13:07 collapse

The only thing I know is that access to the specific purchase might get blocked, if there’s a payment issue. Not Steam directly, but a friend of mine once bought Diablo 3 for WoW gold on Battle.net, something happened after a while, and he lost access to the game, dunno if the other side refunded the game or whatever. All the other games still worked, but he’d have to buy D3 again to play it. I would be surprised if Steam blocks the whole account.

If they mean you buy a game, then there’s a problem with payment, but they should still let you download and play, that’s dumb.

The part about Steam Support being extremely slow is also old news. I think that’s been a lot better for years now. I don’t know if it was around the time they were forced to implement refunds, but I think that’s all outsourced now, and you don’t have to hope a Valve dev checks the support mailbox anymore.

DoucheBagMcSwag@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 12 Jun 11:45 next collapse

ā€œI’m a gooner babeh so why don’t cha kill mehā€

RickyRigatoni@retrolemmy.com on 12 Jun 12:26 next collapse

The secret to success in the games industry is boobs.

Poopfeast420@discuss.tchncs.de on 12 Jun 16:29 collapse

BG3 and Cyberpunk have boobs and were a success, which would support that statement. But Wukong, Palword, and Monster Hunter Wilds were even more successful (according to concurrent Steam players), which means animals are the true secret to success.

Clearwater@lemmy.world on 12 Jun 16:58 next collapse

Why not both, then?

Poopfeast420@discuss.tchncs.de on 12 Jun 17:23 collapse

BG3 tried it with Bear sex. I guess we aren’t ready for that yet. But our kids are gonna love it.

RickyRigatoni@retrolemmy.com on 12 Jun 18:48 collapse

Everyone wants to fuck the palmon.

Hello_there@fedia.io on 12 Jun 15:40 next collapse

But are there nude mods with realistic jiggle yet?

sugar_in_your_tea@sh.itjust.works on 13 Jun 13:39 collapse

Well, some of the outfits are pretty close already, and they definitely have some jiggle, haven’t yet played it so I can’t say whether it’s realistic.

wolf@lemmy.zip on 12 Jun 17:28 next collapse

Well, the fan service is a factor for sure… (Seriously, I find the discussion quite hypocritical: Sex sells, most actors/singers are quite good looking and most block buster movies have a cast of sexy/good locking people displaying status symbols. That is not even mentioning product placing and other shit going on in popular movies/TV shows.)

  • A PS 5 original which is optimized well enough to run on the Steam Deck and some potatoes smoothly
  • Responsive controls
  • Great enemy design which telegraph their intentions clearly
  • No in game purchases or other dark monetization schemes
  • A complete game which seems mostly bug free (from what I heard so far)
  • Shift Up Corporation seems like a company of gamer which create the games they want to play themselves

Stellar Blade and Shift Up Corporation fully deserve a great start, and I happily payed the full price of admission w/o feeling bad about it.

DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social on 13 Jun 13:14 collapse

Shift Up already had a great start lol, they printed money off the gacha games Destiny Child and Nikke. The Nikke fans who already owned Stellar Blade are currently pissed at them because the ones that already had it on PS5 got told if they wanted the collab bonuses they’d have to buy the game again.

I’m not sure why they’re surprised, ShiftUp is the kind of company that sells $60 gooner skins. It’s honestly amazing to me that Stellar Blade has all the content it does without spamming out micro transactions.

wolf@lemmy.zip on 13 Jun 15:47 collapse

Fair point, I stand corrected: I didn’t know about their prior practices.

Still, I keep that Stellar Blade itself was one of the best recent game releases I experienced, and the game itself is fun!

DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social on 13 Jun 20:05 collapse

Tbf to them, one of the reasons both of those gachas were successful is that they’re actually pretty generous by industry standards. They’ll sell the gooners a $60 cosmetic skin and milk the whales of all they have but the regular players can get by fine without paying a dime…

But they probably will anyways because waifus.

2ugly2live@lemmy.world on 12 Jun 17:31 next collapse

I remember when I first saw an ad for this game and thought it looked neat, added it to my wishlist and everything. I looked it up a few weeks/months later and all I saw were gooner posts, or articles about how she’s saving games with her jiggle physics. I removed it simply because I didn’t want to be involved with that community. It was so gross. 🤢

ampersarnie@lemmy.world on 13 Jun 05:44 collapse

I had the same reaction to it, but ended up buying it after looking into some gameplay. I’m glad I did because there’s a really enjoyable game outside of the ā€œsex appeal.ā€ Combat is good and fun, there’s an interesting story there too. My only major complaint is that about 2/3 or 3/4 through the game it turns into a boss rush, and almost feels like the devs ran out of time or budget so cut some story.

As for the community, it’s easy to get around that by just not taking part. I’ve avoided it for the same reasons you’re not wanting to play. It’s a shame there too because I imagine there’s well meaning people who truly love what the game has to offer outside of fan service, and would love to discuss lore, etc.

2ugly2live@lemmy.world on 13 Jun 15:09 collapse

Thank you for taking the time to give me a little glimpse into the game. I may wait for a sale then. Because I really did think it looked cool v

ampersarnie@lemmy.world on 13 Jun 15:48 collapse

Yeah waiting for a sale is a good idea if you’re uncertain. I bought it full price on PS5 and don’t regret it because I felt got my money worth - spent enough time with it for multiple play throughs, platinum trophy, etc

synapse1278@lemmy.world on 13 Jun 04:39 next collapse

Oh, there are going to be some nice mods šŸ˜. Can’t wait to be playing as Shrek !

The gameplay is (apparently) also quite good, tbf.
