Oh shit, when they said “around the corner” they really meant it

snooggums@kbin.social on 31 Aug 2023 17:23 collapse

I am really impressed with the game and the post release addressing of issues.

zib@kbin.social on 31 Aug 2023 17:28 next collapse

That is great turnaround time, but I hope they aren't crunching like crazy to get these patches out the door. I'm fine waiting an extra week or two if it means the devs aren't being worked to the bone.

DoomBot5@lemmy.world on 31 Aug 2023 18:43 next collapse

Eh, release season is the crunch season. Hopefully they’re being properly compensated and have a downtime planned once things quiet down.

Why9@lemmy.world on 31 Aug 2023 19:30 next collapse

Unfortunately with games like Starfield inbound, keeping player retention means patching things the players aren’t happy with. They may be crunched but I hope they’re being compensated well for it and get a long break after

Hyperi0n@lemmy.film on 31 Aug 2023 21:15 collapse

Doubt they are cruching. They have a team of 450 people working on the game.

o0joshua0o@lemmy.world on 31 Aug 2023 17:45 next collapse

Does this mean the PS5 version will get patch #2 right away?

cerevant@lemm.ee on 31 Aug 2023 19:31 collapse

Almost certainly. It sounds like the performance issues with Act 3 were why the PS5 and probably Mac were delayed.

Itsamelemmy@lemmy.zip on 01 Sep 2023 05:56 collapse

I thought the PC was just released early, probably to not compete with starfield.

Thebazilly@ttrpg.network on 31 Aug 2023 17:55 next collapse

Holy shit, already? I wasn’t expecting another patch for a week at least.

Pantrygheist@programming.dev on 01 Sep 2023 02:53 collapse

Another impossible standard for other developers to follow

MrMusAddict@lemmy.world on 31 Aug 2023 18:05 next collapse

The reduction in save file size is appreciated, but unfortunately it appears to be rather minimal. Just tested it on a couple of saves - after loading an existing file and immediately savings, looks like it went down from

  • End of Act 2 = 12.1MiB → 11.3MiB
  • Middle of Act 3 = 30.8MiB → 29.8MiB

So, only a 1MiB reduction it seems… So, still need to manage like 15 GiB of save files, lol

Nighed@sffa.community on 31 Aug 2023 19:18 collapse

That is every save though. So when you are 50 quicksaves in on the 5 multiplayer games you have running… it probably starts to get significant

MrMusAddict@lemmy.world on 31 Aug 2023 20:17 collapse

Eh, yes and no. It seems to be roughly a 5% reduction in size. So that means that you’re only getting 1 extra save every 20. I was hoping for it to closer to halved, or more.

fsxylo@sh.itjust.works on 31 Aug 2023 18:45 next collapse

“karlach” “act 1”

Oh, that makes two companions I missed. Oops.

CodingCarpenter@lemm.ee on 31 Aug 2023 18:46 next collapse

Is there a way to mass delete older saves? I really only need my most recent say three but deleting them is such an arduous task.

Kalothar@lemmy.ca on 31 Aug 2023 18:49 next collapse

What are you playing on?

CodingCarpenter@lemm.ee on 01 Sep 2023 00:18 collapse

Linux in proton

StudioLE@programming.dev on 31 Aug 2023 20:15 collapse

I think this might be what you’re after

UI Improvements

Added a ‘Delete all but latest’ option for each campaign, so you can regain a little storage space wiggle room.

Molecular0079@lemmy.world on 31 Aug 2023 19:04 next collapse

Excited for the changes, but unfortunately they broke the Vulkan renderer pretty badly, halving the performance.

When I started the game I ended up aquiring a strange character, but was not really sure if she was part of the game and I just missed some cutscenes when she joined or maybe she was actually on the mind flayer ship…

Now 20 hours into the game I am realizing that no, she is actually someone else’s character. Apparently when someone else joins your game their character gets tied to your playthrough and you cannot get rid of them. Ever.

What in the actual fuck.

A. I never invited anyone to play the game with me

B. Why are people allowed to join by default? Especially if it introduced a permanent character to their playthrough?

C. WHY ARE OTHER PEOPLES CHARACTERS PERMANENTLY ATTACHED TO YOUR PLAYTHROUGH.

The game has been fantastic so far, but having just realized she’s not part of the story what in the ever living fuck why is this not like a day one option to get rid of characters that aren’t your own character. It makes no sense.

From the top of the change list:

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Features
    • Introducing Withers’ Wardrobe of Wayward Friends! You can now dismiss co-op party members from your campaign.
Hyperi0n@lemmy.film on 31 Aug 2023 21:14 collapse

Took way to long for this gamebreaking bug to be fixed.

Vaderhoff@lemmy.world on 31 Aug 2023 22:20 collapse

Honestly, most probably would assume you’re playing purely with kultiplayer anyways in that campaign. I’m doing a separate playthrough instead of just playing the same game that I’ve started with my friend. I’d feel a little weird about playing my friends PC as well anyways, and doing stuff without him.

StudioLE@programming.dev on 31 Aug 2023 20:19 next collapse

Putting a dead character in a container and then yeeting that container into a chasm will no longer permanently destroy the character - they will now float around as a resurrectable Soul Echo as expected.

QA clearly wasn’t good enough if they didn’t pick up on such a game breaking bug prior to release

And…

If you dismiss your companion to camp and shove them into a chasm, Withers will now be able to resurrect them… so you can shove them into a chasm again, probably.

Whoever wrote these notes really deserves some credit

deejaypanini@lemmy.world on 01 Sep 2023 00:23 next collapse

Does anyone know if they fixed the umbral gem issue? The one where you can deposit too many and leaves you short?

ono@lemmy.ca on 01 Sep 2023 02:15 collapse

Active Search: the starting search radius is increased, the camera moves to the selected item, and you now get a button hint

There’s a way to actively search? How?

Edit: Apparently it’s only available if you use a controller. :(
