Tom Hardy was doing a Splinter Cell movie?

spankmonkey@lemmy.world on 15 Nov 2024 16:16 next collapse

Apparently the announcement was made in stealth mode.

Phil_in_here@lemmy.ca on 15 Nov 2024 16:48 collapse

What better way to advertise your clandestine movie than with clandestine marketing?

intensely_human@lemm.ee on 19 Nov 2024 16:48 collapse

Yeah but it’s dead now

itsgroundhogdayagain@lemmy.ml on 15 Nov 2024 16:48 next collapse

Anything Splinter Cell without Michael Ironside’s voice would be weird.

MegaUltraChicken@lemmy.world on 15 Nov 2024 17:48 next collapse

And not including Sam Fisher would also be weird.

Nilz@sopuli.xyz on 15 Nov 2024 18:44 collapse

Like the Splinter Cell books? (At least the first one).

Edit: nevermind, I’m so wrong. It starts with a different agent at chapter 1 that threw me off but the entire book is focused on Sam Fisher.

MegaUltraChicken@lemmy.world on 15 Nov 2024 20:03 collapse

I never read any of the books, I kind of fell off of Clancy quite a while ago. Worth reading?

Nilz@sopuli.xyz on 15 Nov 2024 20:14 collapse

I only read the first one so far. It’s alright but they’re not written by Clancy sadly.

Coelacanth@feddit.nu on 15 Nov 2024 18:50 collapse

All I want is a final proper send-off Splinter Cell before he dies. Sam Fisher’s final job type vibe. I think there is some cool potential there - not that I trust Ubisoft to pull it off, mind.

Mandy@sh.itjust.works on 15 Nov 2024 18:08 next collapse

We live in the weirdest timelines.
Sonic revitalised video game adaptions.
But splinter cell, arguably one of the easiest things to adapt (style wise) gets merced.

acosmichippo@lemmy.world on 15 Nov 2024 19:11 collapse

I have a feeling it’s because zany animated movies are an easier sell to kids.

Mandy@sh.itjust.works on 15 Nov 2024 19:14 collapse

i mean im a smoothbrain but, i think splinter cell would probably be equally cheap to make since you have so much less cgi youd need

acosmichippo@lemmy.world on 15 Nov 2024 19:23 collapse

dunno about budget, I’m just taking in terms of the demand for these types of movies.

Mandy@sh.itjust.works on 15 Nov 2024 19:35 collapse

yeah, thats fair

twinnie@feddit.uk on 15 Nov 2024 18:18 next collapse

Do kids nowadays even know what Splinter Cell is?

Agent_Karyo@lemmy.world on 15 Nov 2024 18:35 next collapse

I doubt it.

PunchingWood@lemmy.world on 15 Nov 2024 19:16 next collapse

I bet it’s a major reason why they decided to drop it.

Unless they’d pair it with a new game. Wasn’t the last one over 10 years ago?

JigglySackles@lemmy.world on 15 Nov 2024 21:18 next collapse

Doubtful. But that could let it be an r rated or high pg13 option.

echodot@feddit.uk on 16 Nov 2024 09:06 collapse

The last game came out over a decade ago so the youngest audience would have to be 20 plus. Might as well take the opportunity to make it r-rated.

Artyom@lemm.ee on 15 Nov 2024 22:07 collapse

People in their 20s are familiar will Splinter Cell classics like Splinter Cell Conviction.

john117@lemmy.jmsquared.net on 15 Nov 2024 23:02 collapse

OOF. that’s considered a classic now? 🪦

I have the artbook lying around my place somewhere…

Artyom@lemm.ee on 15 Nov 2024 23:44 next collapse

My favorite part was the Afghanistan level.

DrSteveBrule@mander.xyz on 16 Nov 2024 14:29 collapse

Lol the least splinter cell like level in the series(still a fun level)

wurstgulasch3000@lemmy.world on 16 Nov 2024 20:14 collapse

I want a remake of Pandora Tomorrow. I got it for free with my graphics card back in the day but it only ran on windows XP for some weird reason and was hard to remaster or the source code was lost. I haven’t played it in fifteen years but I have fond memories

PunchingWood@lemmy.world on 15 Nov 2024 19:15 next collapse

Oh well, can’t be disappointed about something I didn’t even know was in the works lol

HK65@sopuli.xyz on 16 Nov 2024 15:38 next collapse

Is the Michael Bay Skibidi Toilet adaptation still coming though?

SplashJackson@lemmy.ca on 16 Nov 2024 15:58 collapse

You could say that it splintered??
