Amazing response to Nintendo. Get fucked tendo, get fucked. You control nothing

Bonesince1997@lemmy.world on 11 Nov 21:55 next collapse

Playing leaked games early. Wow, you have no standards. Just hate for Nintendo.

Fiivemacs@lemmy.ca on 11 Nov 22:18 next collapse

I give back what I receive, so in theory…yes.

Id rather see someone play a leaked game early, then have to deal with some corporate garbage trailer that pulls all the stops to deceive it’s fans. I’d rather see actual gameplay, from a normal user then the slop they script.

They aren’t selling anything, so what does it matter other then tendo can’t lie as easily.

Deceptichum@quokk.au on 11 Nov 22:28 next collapse

Oh no, playing leaked games early!

Takumidesh@lemmy.world on 12 Nov 00:00 collapse

I mean I think the guy is stupid, but let’s honestly reflect here, who gives a fuck about some leaked Nintendo game getting played a week or two early. Like honestly, it might not technically be victimless (though even that can be argued), but the ‘damage’ is so small it’s like being upset that someone stepped on your grass.

korny@communick.news on 11 Nov 22:17 next collapse

Streamer sounds like an idiot:

They emailed Nintendo directly about plans to continue doing so;

  • They emailed Nintendo about helping folks find new versions of emulators, such as Yuzu and Ryujinx;
Fiivemacs@lemmy.ca on 11 Nov 22:23 collapse

There is nothing wrong with emulators. The ROMs themselves, sure. Emulators? Heck no

otp@sh.itjust.works on 11 Nov 23:47 collapse

But there is something wrong with emailing Nintendo to say “No matter what you do, I’m going to help more people pirate your games!”

Leate_Wonceslace@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 12 Nov 04:31 next collapse

There’s no such thing as being too based.

otp@sh.itjust.works on 13 Nov 00:20 collapse

Based on what?

ChapulinColorado@lemmy.world on 13 Nov 05:21 collapse

Stupidity apparently.

TORFdot0@lemmy.world on 12 Nov 20:14 collapse

Whether there is something wrong with doing that is a matter of ethics and personal values…

Regardless of those, it’s profoundly stupid to taunt Nintendo with confessions of piracy and threats to commit more

missingno@fedia.io on 11 Nov 22:51 next collapse

This dumbass contacted Nintendo to taunt them about how he's gonna stream leaked pirated copies. Hard to have sympathy for this idiot for poking the bear.

Carighan@lemmy.world on 11 Nov 23:58 next collapse

It sounds like they actually control quite a lot.

Turns out, when you do something clearly not okay and then actively go and taunt the people who could sue you for it with it, they might just, you know, do that. Since you actually went and asked them about it.

JusticeForPorygon@lemmy.world on 12 Nov 00:12 collapse

You know, it’s okay to recognize Nintendo’s scummy legal practices while also recognizing that in this one single instance they are in the right.

Leate_Wonceslace@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 12 Nov 04:30 next collapse

IP law is an illegitimate institution, so no they’re absolutely not.

echodot@feddit.uk on 13 Nov 12:05 collapse

Well that’s not how the law works, you don’t get to violate it just because you don’t like it.

That’s sovereign citizen BS, and that never ends well for them either.

Leate_Wonceslace@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 13 Nov 12:46 collapse

You understand that arguments about the legitimacy of law is an argument about whether a law should exist rather than if a law does exist, right?

There’s a difference between saying that someone’s “in the right” (which they’re absolutely not) and saying someone is legally capable of doing what they want. (which is debatable)

Skates@feddit.nl on 12 Nov 06:09 collapse

There comes a point where being right doesn’t matter more than the fact that they’re cunts.

timewarp@lemmy.world on 11 Nov 21:29 next collapse

Sometime a streamer, he show his pre-release to corporation Nintendo and say “You will never get this you will never get it la la la la la la.” Nintendo behind its lawyer. Nintendo cries, Nintendo cries and everybody laughs. Streamer goes “You never get this.” But one time Nintendo send lawsuit and Nintendo “get this” and then we all laugh. High five!

jewbacca117@lemmy.world on 12 Nov 01:06 next collapse

I have no issues with piracy, but streaming pirated materials is just dumb. Streaming pirated materials of a company that is known for being litigious? Just put your whole dick in the wasp nest.

That’s why this is funny.

SynopsisTantilize@lemm.ee on 12 Nov 01:19 collapse

To all the downvoters…this is a Borat reference…

subignition@fedia.io on 12 Nov 05:20 collapse

We know. It wasn't funny.

jordanlund@lemmy.world on 11 Nov 21:29 next collapse

Streaming bootlegged games is a fast track to legal trouble. I don’t blame Nintendo at all here.

timewarp@lemmy.world on 11 Nov 21:31 next collapse

Nintendo should hire him to beta test its games. Problem solved.

otp@sh.itjust.works on 11 Nov 23:46 collapse

…why? Pirating games and streaming games don’t correlate to skill in testing games.

reseller_pledge609@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 11 Nov 21:39 next collapse

Agreed. I hate Nintendo and their scummy tactics just like anyone else, but sadly the law is on their side here. Also, they’re known for this. Why would you do this and then double down after they start taking down your content.

I am not on Nintendo’s side, but I have zero sympathy for someone who does this to themselves.

rustydrd@sh.itjust.works on 12 Nov 08:42 collapse

It’s colossally stupid.

Nexy@lemmy.sdf.org on 11 Nov 23:41 next collapse

There are some fires you don’t have to play with.

zipzoopaboop@lemmynsfw.com on 12 Nov 03:38 collapse

So how have they not solved their issue with every game getting leaked a week early?

subignition@fedia.io on 12 Nov 05:18 next collapse

When you distribute physical copies of games to stores, I don't think it's really practical to prevent physical copies from getting taken inappropriately 100%

Revan343@lemmy.ca on 12 Nov 05:29 next collapse

Make 'em require an online patch to be playable after first install.

Actually, I should shut the fuck up, they might actually hear me

subignition@fedia.io on 12 Nov 17:09 collapse

Then that pretty much defeats the purpose of physical media, people will be out in droves angry that they can't play their new games offline or have to day 1 patch, etc

There's no perfect solution here.

abigscaryhobo@lemmy.world on 12 Nov 18:03 collapse

Obviously you just mandate your game and console be always online and at that point you may as well just live stream the game to their house, don’t need to download if you never actually own it right?? Make them pay per the minute of game time and only unlock the next level after they’ve played long enough! Hell! Why even sell a game?? Just have people pay you for the right to advertise that they paid for it and charge them a daily subscription to keep the rights! Nobody owns anything but you! Art and entertainment is merely a vessel to siphon money from the masses! Purchase their souls for a hit of dopamine! Rent them their own eyes!

Skates@feddit.nl on 12 Nov 06:07 collapse

Sounds like a them problem. Nintendo are assholes.

subignition@fedia.io on 12 Nov 06:40 collapse

people play games prior to release all the time, the major issue here is streaming it. (and uh directly antagonizing nintendo didn't help)

AllHailTheSheep@sh.itjust.works on 12 Nov 05:57 collapse

well then they couldn’t sue people and that seems to be a large portion of what Nintendo does
