(Console exclusive means it’s coming to Switch + PC, but not on other consoles on release)

Does the Steam Deck count as a PC or as a console?

ampersandrew@lemmy.world on 08 Apr 20:41 next collapse

In this case, it counts as a PC, but given that you have to ask the question, I think that speaks volumes.

simple@lemm.ee on 08 Apr 20:41 next collapse

PC.

mj_marathon@programming.dev on 08 Apr 20:47 next collapse

The dictionary definition of “console” would include the deck AND gaming PCs.

4am@lemm.ee on 08 Apr 23:01 collapse

The line in bluring, but the Deck can run Windows if you want, it’s a PC stuffed into a controller (and that’s not a dig at it, either)

JakobFel@retrolemmy.com on 08 Apr 22:55 next collapse

Both. The future isn’t in consoles, it’s in console-like PCs. Just wait until Valve drops the Fremont, I believe it’ll change absolutely everything.

ColdWater@lemmy.ca on 09 Apr 09:59 collapse

PC, because console has less games than PC

DoucheBagMcSwag@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 08 Apr 21:24 next collapse

Methinks that’s why Silksong has taken forever to come out. Will likely be a console exclusive as well for a time

ampersandrew@lemmy.world on 08 Apr 21:36 next collapse

We already know it’s going to be on Switch 2 and Xbox, including Game Pass day 1. It’s not going to be exclusive, but at the very least, Microsoft paid handsomely for it.

DoucheBagMcSwag@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 08 Apr 21:49 collapse

Oh meaning PlayStation will have to wait then

ampersandrew@lemmy.world on 08 Apr 21:57 collapse

Microsoft is bringing their own games to PlayStation at this point. It’s possible it’s kept off PlayStation, but I doubt it. Team Cherry knows what their game is worth, and that would be a massive buyout.

zipzoopaboop@lemmynsfw.com on 09 Apr 15:14 collapse

Silksong hasn’t taken much longer than og hollow Knight. They just announced it too early

Sanctus@lemmy.world on 08 Apr 21:36 next collapse

That seems like a questionable move tbh

very_well_lost@lemmy.world on 08 Apr 22:00 next collapse

I suspect that Nintendo is offering them more than enough money for exclusivity to make it no longer ‘questionable’ for Supergiant, at least from a financial perspective.

Sanctus@lemmy.world on 09 Apr 00:52 collapse

I’d imagine the Hades IP makes good money on Steam. It must be a guap unless I am dead wrong.

very_well_lost@lemmy.world on 09 Apr 01:12 collapse

Hades 2 is only console exclusive to the Switch 2; it’s also releasing on Steam.

Sanctus@lemmy.world on 09 Apr 01:36 collapse

Ah, yeah I didnt gleam that from reading the word console a million times in the article. Thank you. It makes sense now. Nintendo money + Steam sales.

Stovetop@lemmy.world on 09 Apr 13:11 collapse

It’s no different from Hades 1. It was exclusive to PC and Switch at launch, then released for other consoles 11 months later. If it worked out for that game, I don’t see why it wouldn’t for this one.

Sanctus@lemmy.world on 09 Apr 15:05 collapse

The only thing I know about Hades is its on Steam and every character it shows is chiseled as hell.

RebekahWSD@lemmy.world on 09 Apr 16:59 collapse

Every character in the first game is hot. Every character in the second game is also hot.

Then there’s Dionysus.

SchwertImStein@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 08 Apr 22:48 next collapse

I needed to check. “console exclusive” means it’s coming to pc and both switches.

sauce (kotaku)

straightjorkin@lemmy.world on 09 Apr 03:10 collapse

Oh both switches?

SchwertImStein@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 09 Apr 09:27 collapse

in OP’s link, scroll once, see “latest update”

JakobFel@retrolemmy.com on 08 Apr 22:54 next collapse

I hope they’re prepared to have a fraction of the success they would have if they didn’t continue the absurd concept of console exclusivity.

4am@lemm.ee on 08 Apr 22:59 collapse

It’s also on steam, like already you can buy it in Early Access

I don’t think many people who aren’t to Hades are like “aw fuck I can’t play it on my PS5??”

The three Xbox users are in shambles though

JakobFel@retrolemmy.com on 08 Apr 23:06 collapse

Ah, didn’t know that it’s on Steam. Well, there’s that at least. Still not a fan of console exclusivity either way, though.

ekZepp@lemmy.world on 08 Apr 23:02 next collapse

Considering that 99% of other “portable consoles” on the market are actually handhelds pc, which can download it fron Steam… No. It won’t be.

inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world on 09 Apr 00:31 next collapse

I’m sure they’re getting a ton of cash from Nintendo.

I’ll stick to the steam deck and recommend it to anyone who asks.

Having already purchased the Steam early access version, I was ready to be pissed off until I read further in.

madjo@feddit.nl on 09 Apr 10:41 next collapse

Great, but I’ll keep playing it on my steamdeck. With your console exclusivity.

Bakkoda@sh.itjust.works on 09 Apr 13:30 collapse

I just got mine a week ago. I haven’t turned on my PC since lol

ouRKaoS@lemmy.today on 09 Apr 14:16 collapse

When I got my deck, my instant library of things to play due to old Humble Bundle purchases was staggering.

My backlog would take several lifetimes to complete, and I still by new games because “sale!”

I need to DL all of them before society collapses and there’s no access…

“But there was time now…”

thermal_shock@lemmy.world on 09 Apr 19:48 collapse

$1-10 now is preparation for the future

H_dev@lemmy.ml on 09 Apr 11:10 next collapse

im pretty sure I have it on steam as early access and im waiting for the full release to finish the story…

JigglySackles@lemmy.world on 10 Apr 00:41 collapse

Boo you whore.

Glad I have a PC. Again.
