FINALLY

RGB3x3@lemmy.world on 09 Jun 18:49 next collapse

So it seems we don’t create our own hero? Which, I get that it would limit facial animations and dialogue, but becoming your own hero was such a huge part of Fable.

Anyway, it looks stunning, graphics-wise. I’m looking forward to it for sure.

Daxtron2@startrek.website on 09 Jun 19:04 next collapse

Thats not how i took it. I think that hero he was referring to was actually the main villain of the series. The way he said “made all the wrong choices” was what clued me in.

themeatbridge@lemmy.world on 10 Jun 18:54 collapse

I assumed that he was referencing the morality mechanic that’s been a staple of the game from the beginning. Be good, and you’re revered. Be evil, and people will fear you. Also, your looks change to match, IIRC. “Really sticks with you.”

Daxtron2@startrek.website on 10 Jun 19:11 collapse

Thats true, I guess its probably intentionally ambiguous lol. I do hope we have some control over our appearance.

themeatbridge@lemmy.world on 11 Jun 00:07 collapse

its probably intentionally ambiguous

100% this.

mbz27@lemmy.world on 09 Jun 19:05 next collapse

Seems like they may be playing some kind of game with the language in the trailer, I’m not sure the “her” is the player character.

kryptonianCodeMonkey@lemmy.world on 09 Jun 19:16 collapse

That was pretty clear. The apparent player character was a misdirect. The figure that comes in at the end seems to be the “her” referred to, and potentially the main antagonist of the game. I’m sure, just like in all other iterations, you’ll have a custom built player character of any sex/gender.

jerrythejared@infosec.pub on 10 Jun 04:20 collapse

Curious if “Her” will be Theresa. It’s probably someone new but would be interesting if she made a cameo.

Zahille7@lemmy.world on 10 Jun 17:27 collapse

I think it might be that one woman in the trailer who says “I’m a Hero, why not do what I want?”

Definitely gave me selfish, villain-y vibes.

Although it could be she’s like the Reaver of the new Fable.

bitfucker@programming.dev on 10 Jun 18:39 collapse

Wait, fable has a feature to create our hero? I thought the hero was predetermined. Forgive my ignorance since I only ever played The Lost Chapter. I hope MS will give fable the Halo treatment so I could play the other series too.

eman_sdrawkcab@lemmy.ml on 11 Jun 23:21 collapse

In Fable 2 & 3 you could select the gender of your character, but that was it. Their appearance was then shaped by your karma etc. like in the first game.

The trailers have used a female hero as the stand in, which, for some reason, people have taken to mean we don’t get to choose the gender or anything.

bitfucker@programming.dev on 12 Jun 00:14 collapse

Ah, I thought it was like Dragon Age: Origins or even Skyrim. Because yeah, that is the Fable that I remembered. The appearance is affected by our action but we cannot create a hero to our liking.

Daxtron2@startrek.website on 09 Jun 19:04 next collapse

Looks stunning, let’s hope it is as fun as it is pretty.

Computerchairgeneral@fedia.io on 09 Jun 20:22 next collapse

Fable having this realistic art style still feels weird to me, but at least it seems like they're matching the tone of the other games.

LaserTurboShark69@sh.itjust.works on 09 Jun 22:15 next collapse

I liked this way more than the first trailer. Looks promising!

hisXLNC@lemmy.world on 10 Jun 10:10 next collapse

If thats the main character ill pass

themeatbridge@lemmy.world on 10 Jun 18:50 next collapse

What are you whining about?

hisXLNC@lemmy.world on 10 Jun 23:56 collapse

For anyone that can actually read and understand what they read, its quite obvious what I complained about.

themeatbridge@lemmy.world on 11 Jun 00:02 collapse

It’s weird to be snarky about literacy when you have a spelling error in your whining.

hisXLNC@lemmy.world on 11 Jun 00:05 collapse

A spelling error? Oh no! Whatever will we do!? Stfu retard

themeatbridge@lemmy.world on 11 Jun 00:08 collapse

So doubling down on the bigotry, eh? At least you’re honest about what you’re about.

hisXLNC@lemmy.world on 11 Jun 00:13 collapse

Not wanting to play an intentionally ugly character is bigotry for your smooth brain. I know youre hideous and want to feel represented but normal people prefer a character customization option so they can make the character they want and not be forced to play some ugly looking character because of “diversity. “

themeatbridge@lemmy.world on 11 Jun 02:01 collapse

The fact that you think “intentionally ugly” and “diversity” are the same thing is just a staggering new form of ignorant intolerance. I’m going to need a minute to digest that.

Ok, so many question…

Is it that you only play as characters you want to fuck? Or you only play as characters that look like you? Or is it both, and you only want to fuck people who look like you, and want to play games where that’s part of it?

How ugly do you need to be to no longer be normal? Or is it being different from you that makes people ugly?

Are all ugly people minorities in your mind? Like you see someone on the street with crooked teeth and a mishapen head, and you think “Your kind aren’t welcome here!” Or are there certain minorities that are ugly to you, and you think this character model looks like one of “them”? Which group is even represented in this trailer?

I’m really curious about you. I’d really rather not be, and I’d probably be happier if I just forget you exist. You’re like a really weird shaped piece of dog shit. How were you formed? What the fuck was wrong with that dog?

I know you probably won’t give me answers, and will probably just fall back on some tired cliche of an insult again. But on the off chance that you feel like sharing, I’d love to know more.

djsaskdja@reddthat.com on 10 Jun 20:53 collapse

You can usually create your own character in these types of games.

It’s be nice for social networks to have features where you can just pattern-match off of idiot dogwhistle comments like Sweet Baby and automatically block users bringing them up. I have to do it for YouTube and thankfully the incel videos have toned down a little, but every once in a while I get a “Men are OPPRESSED”.

grrgyle@slrpnk.net on 10 Jun 18:45 next collapse

What is that?

themeatbridge@lemmy.world on 10 Jun 18:49 next collapse

What are you whining about?

BleatingZombie@lemmy.world on 10 Jun 19:03 next collapse

Can you please explain what you see that makes you say that? I truly want to understand (it doesn’t mean I will agree)

Yayayyayayayyayayayay. I’m excited. The Fable games never felt truly finished and fully fleshed out, but I loved them all and played them so much.

Mango@lemmy.world on 10 Jun 19:22 collapse

The first Fable seemed right and polished but just ended too soon and need some endgame challenge.

GeneralVincent@lemmy.world on 10 Jun 13:48 next collapse

This trailer is really bringing out the bigots, especially in the YouTube comments. It sucks that the gaming community, literally based on having fun, can be so toxic

themeatbridge@lemmy.world on 10 Jun 18:49 next collapse

I played the first two games, and I watched the trailer.

What are the bigots whining about?

-oh look, there’s one down below in the comments. I’ll ask them.

Edit: I asked 'em, but I received no answers. One called me a slur, but I’m not sure what else I was expecting.

BleatingZombie@lemmy.world on 10 Jun 19:02 next collapse

I’m at work and can’t watch the trailer. What is even there to be bigoted about?

GeneralVincent@lemmy.world on 10 Jun 19:28 collapse

It’s a woman main character in the trailer. Some loud, annoying gamers have a problem with that. Also that she isn’t super conventionally sexy, and is a representation of an average woman. And some people are calling her trans and not in a pro LGBT way.

Someone here made a comment about sweet baby inc, which is a company that works with game studios to help encourage diversity, which is apparently the end of the world for the people who call everything new “woke” unironically

Cringe2793@lemmy.world on 11 Jun 03:00 collapse

I hope we would be able to choose our main character though.

Mango@lemmy.world on 10 Jun 19:21 collapse

You’re a bigot.

GeneralVincent@lemmy.world on 10 Jun 19:24 collapse

Why?

Mango@lemmy.world on 10 Jun 20:00 collapse

You want to know why but you didn’t say why yourself.

GeneralVincent@lemmy.world on 10 Jun 22:19 collapse

Yeah the bigots didn’t ask me why I called them bigots. But I asked you. If they did ask, I’d tell them it’s because of how they make fun of women and trans people for existing. But you didn’t really care about that, you just wanted to start something. Not worth my time tho, goodbye.

Mango@lemmy.world on 10 Jun 23:44 collapse

Ah yeah, I thought we’re just calling names. You set the precedent. I didn’t see any of that shit you just mentioned.

grrgyle@slrpnk.net on 10 Jun 18:44 collapse

Don’t have an Xbox but I remember these games really fondly. This looks cool, but like, kind of insanely polished for a Fable game? Interested to see what the vibe of the finished game is like.
