Tldw: In this video, Mark discusses how modern, 3D games do real-time destruction. He goes over 6 different games as examples, and demonstrates how they each use different techniques to calculate real-time destruction that reacts to player actions. The 6 games are:

  1. Control
  2. Astro Bot
  3. BeamNG.drive
  4. Far Cry 2
  5. Teardown
  6. Red Faction: Guerilla

I gotta stop posting videos. Lemmy really hates to watch a video.

Given the nature of how the site generally works and how most peolle appear to use it, shorts would be watched more often than a 20+ minute video. Most people just mindlessly scroll for a minute or two while waiting on something else. Only the losers like me have the time to watch a long video.

Not only that but they hate YouTube. You’ll see videos from other “tube” sites that aren’t YouTube here

The only destruction I remember in FC2 was the fire spreading system. 🤔

I also can’t believe Rust didn’t make the cut, considering how popular it still is and it having a destruction system similar to Teardown and Red Faction.

When did Rust add that? Back when I played it was essentially Ark/Fortnite building

It’s been there as long as I can remember. Make a big tower and take out the bottom. The whole thing collapses.

Oooh, Teardown and Red Faction have a bit more physics involved but I see the comparison
