This is going to be the goty when it finally releases on steam in 2035

ampersandrew@kbin.social on 19 Feb 2024 01:42 collapse

You think that's the year the Epic store closes?

stardust@lemmy.ca on 20 Feb 2024 03:39 collapse

Depends entirely on Fortnite’s continued dominance.

I couldn’t get into the first one due to the gameplay and my strong dislike of Alan himself, but I loved the story and the universe they’ve created from it. It makes me excited that so many people are loving this, since that (hopefully) means we’ll see more games that link to each other!

I appreciate AW1 but the gameplay was pretty repetitive and feels dated today (imo). 2 is a lot more enjoyable

I loved the game, but i refuse tob buy it in Epic. Any guesses on when does the exclusivity end?

SomethingBurger@jlai.lu on 19 Feb 2024 00:08 next collapse

Most likely never. Unlike other exclusives, this game was entirely funded by Epic.

GammaGames@beehaw.org on 19 Feb 2024 00:57 collapse

Unfortunate, I wonder how well it did on pc?

stardust@lemmy.ca on 19 Feb 2024 03:20 next collapse

Did it even get included in video card bundles to boost sales?

rautapekoni@sopuli.xyz on 19 Feb 2024 16:18 collapse

My brother got it with a GeForce card so yes.

it appears that Alan Wake 2 is on track to be even more popular than Control, with the 2023 sequel having sold 1.3 million units as of this month, the fastest selling Remedy game to date. “By comparison, Alan Wake 2 sold over 50% more copies and over three times more digital copies in its first two months than Control did in its first four months,”

GammaGames@beehaw.org on 19 Feb 2024 07:32 collapse

Wow! I hadn’t really heard about it so I assumed, does it say what platform that’s for?

DdCno1@beehaw.org on 19 Feb 2024 08:42 collapse

All platforms combined.

Chronographs@lemmy.zip on 19 Feb 2024 16:28 collapse

That first four months wouldn’t include the steam sales which weren’t until a year later, I wonder how they compare

stardust@lemmy.ca on 19 Feb 2024 02:54 collapse

This is one of the games where I think epic exclusive is understandable. But, due to past and future actions I still won’t buy it from epic, but will happily claim it in a future give away.

woah135@kbin.social on 19 Feb 2024 01:11 next collapse

I’d love to pay full price for a physical version of this game if they would release one. Weakening physical sales will only increase the power held by the digital storefronts.

ghashul@feddit.dk on 19 Feb 2024 05:30 next collapse

I’m planning on getting it in a steam sale. I guess it’ll have to get to steam first.

malchior@aussie.zone on 20 Feb 2024 00:42 collapse

Yeah waiting for a steam sale.
