Patient gamer here. Playing Skyrim for the first time.

I envy you. If you ever decide to get into the mods, I wish you well on your extended break from literally everything else.

Also, the Dawnguard DLC is pretty fun and you don’t have to do much of the main quest line to start it.

I say this mainly because Serana’s awesome and out of all the vanilla companions, she’s one of the few with an actual personality. And Laura Bailey always gives a great performance.

She’s just fun to have around. Plus you get crossbows and some cool armor not in the base game.

Lol, sorry, I just really enjoy that DLC. You play however you want, but I need to just point in her direction because I love her.

I hope you’re not playing Anniversary Edition for your first time with the game. Getting bombarded with all that Creation Club stuff would not be my ideal first impression.

Nope! I’m playing the Switch version which I believe is pretty vanilla. Enjoying it a lot so far.

Is the experience at all spoiled by the game’s popularity? It’s a great game in its own right IMO

If you ever get into modding, please try out Inigo, you won’t regret it 💙

I’m continuing Xenoblade Chronicles X. I’ve slowed down a bit, since last time I played like 45 hours in a single week and I’ve gotten a bit burnt out. The game has also become a bit stale since since I’ve unlocked all the (main) mechanics and the mechs were disappointing.

I’m not saying the game’s bad or that I’m disliking it, but it feels too simple and repetitive for what the setting and mechanics could allow.

I’m thinking of going back and replaying the original Watch_Dogs with The Living City mod.

Looks pretty fun and breathes a bunch of life into a game I actually really enjoyed, which I know others found boring or disappointing.

I finished Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 a couple of days ago. I’m sure you’re tired of hearing people rave about it at this point. All I can say is: the hype is justified.

It’s a beautiful piece of art, with a wonderful story, gorgeous visuals and absolutely unbelievable music. One of my favourite OSTs of all time, and there’s more than 8 fucking hours of it.

It’s definitely within my top 10 games of all time. Thoroughly recommended, and a game I will still think about for a long time, even after putting it down.

In fact, it’s one of those rare games where I’m seriously considering going immediately back in to a NG+ playthrough right after finishing it. Yes, it’s that good.

Currently at the endgame secret boss, practicing for it once in a while. So kind of them to put a bonfire near tbh

Just finished Metroid Fusion earlier, started Metroid Zero Mission. Replaying both. Probably going to get to the GBA Castlevania games soon as well.

Although I’m starting to get an itch for a Phantasy Star run again so by this time next week I’ll probably be busy with that. Thinking of going straight to Phantasy Star 3 this time. I’ve played PS1 the most by far and PS2 multiple times as well but I’ve only fully completed PS3 once so far.

Played some Overwatch 2 Stadium mode. It’s kinda underwhelming I guess?

Comments described the mode as super crazy, with all the powers you can get, but it doesn’t feel much different, since normal OW also added passives, that you unlock during a match. There are also not that many characters enabled for the mode yet, which doesn’t help, because there are just one or two characters per role I want to play. With superfast rounds, it does feel faster than normal OW, but the whole match takes 20-30 minutes, except giga stomps, that can be over in only 10 minutes.

Since the matchmaker is also terrible as always, games just don’t go to 7 rounds, so you don’t get all of your upgrades. I played 11 matches, 9 of them were had a 4-1 scoreline or worse (3-0 or 4-0), wins or losses. Only two went to 4-2. Stadium is treated as a ranked mode and has no casual queue, so maybe once you’ve climbed some time, the matchmaking gets better, but each role has a separate rank, and I always flex, so that could take a while.

I think I’ll just go back to normal Quick Play.

enbiousenvy@lemmy.blahaj.zone on 26 May 20:39 collapse

for me Stadium is a bit of a good middle point to ever enjoy smething close to moba without really getting into a whole new game like dota with all of the complex stuff. So it’s a bit of a refresher from Quick Play. Then I never bothered to play the normal Competitive.

But content-wise, it’s not drastically transform every abilities but few things are funky enough. like Reinhardt can fly, Moira can spam multiple orbs, Mercy can have dps build while also heals, Juno can almost launch torpedos every second when lucky 🤣

I main Kiriko but she doesn’t seem to have significant changes.

But few things are real annoying like Soldier gets auto aim after using abilities, Freja is also more annoyimg in general compared to QP.

Overall I can only play 1-3 Stadium games a day though. It’s competitive & intense. Quick Play is more relaxing.

Apparently matchmaking in Stadium is non-existent yet so it’s definitely annoying when I get to team up with lower ranks team against higher ranks team.

Still working through The Sinking City Remastered. I've become incredibly distracted by photo mode lol.

I got that Blue Prince bug where your data secretly stops saving twice now. I read it’s been fixed but playing the game has a tension behind it now that’s discouraging me from investing too much in it, psychologically speaking, and also I’m hesitant to play anything else on the PlayStation because closing the Blue Prince application on it risks being hit by the bug again if it does still exist.

Which all seems like the universe telling me it’s time to try Baldur’s Gate 3 Honour Mode again with these new subclasses. I’ve made a dragonborn barbarian, planning for him to be a giant that specializes in punching, playing him arrogant and naive. Lae’zel and Wyll feel like good companions for that temperament but I don’t know who my third should be. Maybe stick with a hireling until I get one of the druids? He’s too insecure to tolerate Shadowheart or Gale. Astarion or Karlach would mean having to reclass somebody so there’d be a support role on the team and reclassing the origins never sits well with me.

UPDATE: Things did not go well at the goblin camp.

Im back to Balatro after losing all interest in it. Just got a couple more decks to unlock until I can decide I’ve completed it. I obviously never will (get gold tokens on all the jokers? Lolno) but it will feel like a good point to stop with no regrets.

I’m playing World of Goo, a physics game from 2008 that I bought in a Humble Bundle forever ago.

I tried it again on a lark and it holds up, I got sucked in. Classic physics game. One level takes me less than 15 minutes to complete, but it varies significantly.

There are interesting conflicting pressures in the game: you want to build with as little as possible, because the building material are your little dudes you’re trying to get to safety. Gravity exists, and weight distribution matters: sometimes you must harness this fact to win.

Some levels are about building methodically, carefully choosing where to use the corpse of a sacrificed little dudes, because it is an immutable choice.

Other levels are about dynamics and timing, and you can get tantalizingly close to saving your entire team in these levels.

Its old, its cheap, it should run on most things~1~. Strong recommend.

On mobile:

  • Magic Survival, as usual.
  • Squad Busters, got into it again recently, having lots of fun.
  • Mo.co, the newest of the bunch, was finally able to try it after a while of that invite/qr bullshit not working for me, idk why it’s even there still. It’s a lot of fun so far, but i’m not happy with the character creation and i’m a bit tired of this kind artstyle lol.

On PC

  • Left 4 Dead 2, as usual, lmao, trying some maps out and updating my mods.
  • Conquest Dark, recent purchase, very fun, loving the artstyle and the feel of combat.
  • Vampire Survivors, finishing up the latest dlc and some other content.
