Ooh, I really like this wallpaper!

djsaskdja@reddthat.com on 17 Apr 20:23 next collapse

I haven’t been a Ubuntu guy in a long time, but Canonical consistently designs the best wallpapers for their releases.

Pirata@lemm.ee on 17 Apr 20:34 collapse

Word. Unfortunately I cannot like Ubuntu for all of canonicals decisions, but there’s no doubt they have designed the most iconic Linux DE there is.

So much so that if someone who doesn’t use Linux thinks of Linux, they imagine Ubuntu.

I still miss unity sometimes. The unified menu and the HUD/dash design, so well thought out

HappinessPill@lemmy.ml on 17 Apr 23:45 next collapse

Canonical sure know how to name them.

hperrin@lemmy.ca on 18 Apr 00:39 next collapse

I’ll be excited again when they give up on Snaps.

muusemuuse@lemm.ee on 18 Apr 00:43 collapse

Snaps promise to do some really cool things. They just are a bitch to use and they are slow and tied too heavily to canonical.

Weren’t you supposed to be able to snap in and out a kernel by now? Like, not even needing a reboot?

that_leaflet@lemmy.world on 18 Apr 02:05 collapse

The kernel is a snap in Ubuntu Core, but you still need to reboot. I don’t think there’s a nice way to work around that.

makingStuffForFun@lemmy.ml on 18 Apr 22:37 next collapse

Snap there still? If so, not even looking at it. Fedora and Debian I am thoroughly enjoying.

shiroininja@lemmy.world on 18 Apr 22:46 next collapse

What a jabroni.

eltheanine@moist.catsweat.com on 19 Apr 05:09 next collapse

Yup I run LMDE on Desktop (or "LMAE" Arch) and Debian on servers since they made it annoying to rip out snaps. I'm not interested in making a distro something it is not, so just use something else.

geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml on 19 Apr 07:27 collapse

The push towards Snap appears to be more optional now

hihi24522@lemm.ee on 19 Apr 08:09 next collapse

I read that “Prickly muffin” and now I’m debating on whether I should or should not watch Bojack Horseman again

Bogus007@lemm.ee on 23 Apr 03:51 collapse

Attention Ubuntu users if you haven’t heard about it. There is currently a problem with the update, which is why it is stopped: Release Manager Simon Quigley on Reddit.
