Can you guys recommend any female Youtubers?
I currently only have Bread on Penguins and Nixie Pixel hasn’t posted any videos for years.

Veronica explains has cool content
Veronica Explains comes to mind: www.youtube.com/channel/UCMiyV_Ib77XLpzHPQH_q0qQ
She is also on Peertube: tinkerbetter.tube/c/veronicaexplains/videos
Speaking of VeronicaExplains: How VeronicaExplains Records Videos, ft. VeronicaExplains (not the best sound quality.)
Her videos are definitely solid, and she seems knowledgeable. HOWEVER, she 100% consumed the Technology Connection guy’s personality and mannerisms Kirby style.

Jill on Destination Linux
Jill is such an awesome person and content creator.
She’s an absolute darling, and super smart and knowledgeable.
.
Andrea Borman is interesting…
Following her for years.
Didn’t she stop?
I love this channel
Glad to see Andrea here!
While LaurieWired isn’t a linux youtuber she does use it here and there, and her content is in general very interesting reverse engineering stuff. And I like the Serial Experiments Lain theming she uses, complete with Copland OS in this video, but also other old late 90s early 00s OS’es.
Jill from Destination Linux has already been mentioned, and then the only other linux woman youtuber (edit: I know of) is probably Wendy from Linux Out Loud..
Asahi Lina (vtuber) does Livestreams with Linux GPU driver development: www.youtube.com/channel/UCwkfNQzKwICfPKs6V0ZUFZQ
You can also find her in the fediverse: vt.social/@lina
Isn’t that marcan? There might not be much new content, since he quit the Asahi Linux project.
I don’t know.
Marcan and Lina are listed separately on the about page. asahilinux.org/about/
There’s a theory that they’re the same person. I’m not sure how reputable it is, I follow them both, but haven’t seen any videos of them.
It certainly is a bit funny how Asahi Lina chose not to take a leadership position and she hasn’t steamed dev work in a month…
What is vt .social?
What is a VTuber? Is that some form of peertube instance?
VTubers are people who is avatars instead of being on camera. Typically the avatar is lip synced to their voice.
Oohh… First time hearing about this thing
as I know they are streamers that have an animated face in place of a facecam

Its nice to support women creators in an industry which is mostly male dominated
This. I’d add that it’s good for us to watch diverse content too.
I love to support women too, I understand and notice that there are far too few women in this field.
If you think about it, it makes no sense. We see women as weaker than men physically. Which explains why we dont see that much women in labor work. But why in tech? Tech is a place where noone is incapable. Everyone regardless of gender, political opinion, caste can be equal in tech
Because for years it has been pitched and enforced as a field for men. Women who do it are derided or seen as other, and women who want to do it are discouraged or seen as misguided. This is shifting, but the biases will need to drop long before the actual balance will shift to equal.
women have systematically been forced out of tech through the years. programmers used to be majority female.

I am trying to get my wife to learn more about Linux. She likes Bread on Penguins but sadly can’t get her into DT, The Linux Experiment or even Gardiner. Therefore, I thought if i could find more female voices talking about Linux it may be more accessible for her.
.
I agree and I watch them myself. I do not claim to know how the female mind works lol
It’s because men, as you are demonstrating perfectly, are really good at being toxic without realizing it. Many women avoid male content crestirs for this reason.
I think the only few ones I know are
Nikkie Pixel
Mimz Technology
Veronica explains (I would say its for 5 year olds mostly)
But dont say guys are bad
The intersection of female Linux user and female YouTuber is very small, however there are female Linux user groups, which are much larger, who often meet at conferences. Might be something to look into.
log off chud
Veronica explains youtube.com/@veronicaexplains
Also on Peertube veronicaexplains@tinkerbetter.tube
Cyb3rMaddy does more cyber security content, but she has a fair bit of Linux content too, same with LaurieWired.
VeronicaExplains is my favorite for pure Linux content.
.
Jill Bryant
Tracketpacer is a network engineer
And she has a cute baby switch. The switch knows nothing. Not even ABCs. Just knows to be little and nap.

I am a male, yet I am weirdly offended by the adjective “female”…
It should work fine in OP’s sentence, but sadly the word’s been ruined… A while back I heard someone over 40 use it as a noun in real life. 🫤
“Female” is fine as an adjective, just don’t use it (or “male”) as a noun.
Have you tried…

?
SoBatistaCyber, a new and still small channel but has potential.
Are trans women ok?
Yes I love trans women
Freya Holmér is great.
This is so real thank you!
She is absolutely great, but she doesn’t talk about Linux, does she ?
She’s Linux-adjacent :P
Fair
I know what you mean, but I immediately heard it different. It’s something we should be asking daily, just to make sure they have what they need. Are trans women okay? Are trans men okay? What do you need? I have a sympathetic ear and bourbon; how can I help?
Not in this political environment
