Nerdcore is back (lemmy.zip)

Hi All,

I’ve moved Nerdcore from lemm.ee to lemmy.zip (via trusty copy and paste…) It would be awesome if you find your way over there. We got some nice nerdy lyrics on a variety of music genres.

Fun Fact: MC Frontalot coined the term “nerdcore” in the early 2000s :)

Cheers, peet

!nerdcore@lemmy.zip might be the more convenient link, someone told me :)

Glad to have you back :)

What kind of nerdcore is welcome there? Like, is ytcracker an acceptable artist in this community?

Edit: never mind. I see Dual Core on there, and they’re the same nerd genre. I am so happy this community exists!

Let the up and down votes decide :) Anyway both are fine with me :D

I’m good with all of it, honestly, but was specifically looking for something like ytcracker type of nerdcore. Now, yt is very specifically about hacking (and the culture surrounding it). I’m not specifically looking about hacking, but I am looking for specific nerdcore, where they sing about a very specific interest. Now that that’s clear as a mud lol

Thanks for bringing that up, maybe we can introduce tags, e.g., in square brackets.

01189998819991197253@infosec.pub on 01 Jul 23:03 collapse

Oooh!! That’s an excellent idea!

p3e7@lemmy.zip on 08 Jul 10:53 collapse

Do you have an idea what tags we could use? Something like [Anime], [Gaming], [Tech] and [Culture]. The first three are self-explanatory. I thought [Culture] or short [Cult] ]maybe for songs related to Star Wars etc. Maybe there are better tags. Let me know.

01189998819991197253@infosec.pub on 08 Jul 15:35 collapse

As main tags, those are awesome. Maybe we can add subtags, to give the OP some granularity if they choose to use it, for example: [Cult] [StarWars]

I finally had moment to create a post for the introduction of tags. Let’s see where this takes us :)

I posted a couple the other day, and used some of the tags we discussed earlier and added subtags : ) maybe it’ll take off haha

Can you elaborate on the various types of nerdcore? I find sub-sub-genre differences interesting. Atmoblack vs DSBM, for instance. I’m curious what the differences are.

01189998819991197253@infosec.pub on 01 Jul 18:49 collapse

Nerdcore is generally music from a specific nerd subculture. There’s one for nearly every nerd subculture, so I can’t really list them lol

Thanks for the heads-up!

Hopefully most community admins do the same with theirs, so we can switch properly 😅

Thank you, sadly the posts don’t make the instance transition in the Summit Android app.

Do you have any suggestions to achieve that?

Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 01 Jul 17:11 collapse

I tagged you there

p3e7@lemmy.zip on 01 Jul 20:34 collapse

Fingers crossed, but for me it was quite easy, since the community is mostly a link list. Not many comments. That makes transition a lot easier :)

Hell yeah! I remember being at a show with mc chris, MC Lars, and Mega Ran when the 2016 election results were announced. They made a bad night bearable.

Awesome! Would love to experience them in a crowd of nerds :D
