There is now an Actually Infuriating community on Lemmy! Post things that are beyond just mildly infuriating. It’s only mildly infuriating that someone didn’t make this sooner!

Why not reuse !furiouslyinfuriating@sh.itjust.works ?

gedaliyah@lemmy.world on 24 Jan 2025 14:49 collapse

Again, thanks for mentioning it. I replied to your alt that I wasn’t able to find it when searching, which is why it is now linked in the sidebar.

Thanks to your suggestion, anyone who finds !actually_infuriating@lemmy.world will also be able to find !furiouslyinfuriating@sh.itjust.works

The issue is more about still another new community on LW while the existing SJW could have just been reused

gedaliyah@lemmy.world on 24 Jan 2025 16:20 collapse

I understand this point as well. This community was created as a result of several requests in !mildlyinfuriating@lemmy.world from people who were unable to locate the alternative. I did not see !furiouslyinfuriating@sh.itjust.works suggested or promoted in that community, and I did not find it when I searched. Unfortunately we all know that the search built into Lemmy is not great.

Hopefully this new community will also raise the profile of the SJW one. I have included the link in the sidebar so that more people can find it. If this community proves unnecessary, I will happily close it and merge with the SJW one.

I appreciate the work you do in helping to keep the fediverse distributed. It is truly our greatest strength.

You created the new community yesterday, it’s still time to lock it and redirect to the SJW one?

I appreciate the work you do in helping to keep the fediverse distributed.

To be fair the more I look at lemmyverse.net/communities?order=active the more I feel it’s a daunting task. And new communities like this one not being opened on other instances does not help.

@gedaliyah@lemmy.world ?

gedaliyah@lemmy.world on 26 Jan 2025 14:50 collapse

I wish the conversation happened before creating the community, but I don’t agree that locking a community immediately after creating it is the best way to build a resilient platform. Unless there is some kind of automatic link forwarding that I’m not aware of. I’m making assumptions about what “Redirect” means based on my knowledge.

Is this the best account to reach you by pm?

Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 26 Jan 2025 19:42 collapse

That community is 3 days old, it had 11 posts, it’s still very reasonable to create a meta post about it and point people to the SJW

If you lock the community and pin the post to the SJW one willing to post will just follow that post to the SJW community

There is a fancier version like what @UndercoverUlrikHD@programming.dev did on !football@lemmy.world

  • ping everyone who ever commented on the old community using a script
  • configure a bot to lock every new post and redirect them to the new community

But the last point probably overkill for a community that’s 3 days old.

And for the first one, it can be done manually too

What will count as “Misinformation” ??

gedaliyah@lemmy.world on 24 Jan 2025 16:10 collapse

The standard will be similar to other Lemmy communities.

As with others, if this is applied in error, only providing a credible source will be necessary to reverse a removal.

MITM0@lemmy.world on 24 Jan 2025 16:35 collapse

Then who’s gonna decide what sources are credible ? There’s going to bias in that too (well I’ll leave it at that, you can answer it if you wish)

Valmond@lemmy.world on 24 Jan 2025 09:24 collapse

The posts there are just trash.

There are enough infuriating news everywhere IMO, good luck though.
