It’s been a while since the last thread similar to this, so let’s go.

Small note, for ask and casual communities, there are several local versions:

Is this a thread for recommending communities that aren’t politics, news, memes, or tech? If so, here’s some comic-related communities:

And a few other miscellaneous communities:

Blaze@feddit.org on 06 Jan 15:53 next collapse

Indeed, that’s the spirit, thanks for the links!

SiegeRhino@lemmy.world on 06 Jan 21:57 collapse

dropping an Oglaf link without a warning is gonna make for a fun time on public transit

m_f@midwest.social on 06 Jan 23:28 collapse

Good call, edited to add a warning

NineMileTower@lemmy.world on 06 Jan 15:57 next collapse

I’d like to see more niche communities take off. I want to talk home recording studio, but even if I start it, no one joins.

Blaze@feddit.org on 06 Jan 16:01 next collapse

There is !musicproduction@sh.itjust.works, maybe you can try to post there to see if people are still interesting? Something as small as “how is everyone doing lately with their home studios” could start a discussion

can@sh.itjust.works on 06 Jan 16:08 next collapse

I recently took over !musicproduction@sh.itjust.works too!

Blaze@feddit.org on 06 Jan 16:09 collapse

Ah, that’s promising!

cm0002@lemmy.world on 06 Jan 17:02 collapse

Ew, a .ml comm

@can@sh.itjust.works s recommendation for !musicproduction@sh.itjust.works is much better

Let’s not grow anymore .ml communities

Blaze@feddit.org on 06 Jan 17:30 collapse

Yes, I share the feeling. For some reason the SJW community was not showing up in lemmyverse.net

can@sh.itjust.works on 06 Jan 16:08 collapse

Please do! We’re slightly more active over at !musicproduction@sh.itjust.works

NineMileTower@lemmy.world on 06 Jan 17:04 collapse

Subbed. I just bought a m audio m- track solo. I’m currently debating using waveform, Cakewalk, or reaper. Maybe I’ll make a post

curbstickle@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 06 Jan 17:24 collapse

Go for it!

Also… Reaper.

miss_demeanour@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 06 Jan 16:01 next collapse

Saving, to continue returning.

Alice@hilariouschaos.com on 06 Jan 16:25 collapse

U can’t see me

palitu@aussie.zone on 06 Jan 16:01 next collapse

Thanks, a couple of new subs, and since laughs from Dad jokes, as well as groans from my wife…

vext01@lemmy.sdf.org on 06 Jan 16:11 next collapse

Thanks. I appreciate this kind of post.

All to easy to have a feed full of doom.

Blaze@feddit.org on 06 Jan 16:17 collapse

Definitely

pixelmeow@lemmy.world on 06 Jan 16:34 next collapse

May I plug my community? !The_Heinlein_Society@lemmy.world would love more conversation. No current politics allowed :)

Blaze@feddit.org on 06 Jan 16:56 collapse

Feel free! Didn’t know about Heinlein, looks like an interesting author!

LambdaRX@sh.itjust.works on 06 Jan 16:57 next collapse

Also !pareidolia@sh.itjust.works, !desire_paths@sh.itjust.works, and !dreaming@lemmy.world.

tja@sh.itjust.works on 06 Jan 17:22 next collapse

When you write them with an @ in front, you are referencing a user. A community is a Lemmy concept and you have to prepend them with a !.

LambdaRX@sh.itjust.works on 06 Jan 17:26 collapse

Thanks

oldfart@lemm.ee on 10 Jan 15:22 collapse

The desire paths one 😍

Allero@lemmy.today on 06 Jan 18:47 next collapse

Since others shared their own communities, here’s my simple one, looking for your stories:

!positivity@lemmy.today

Come by to share what made you happy!

Blaze@feddit.org on 06 Jan 19:35 collapse

Thanks for sharing! You might consider !casualconversation@lemm.ee, it’s also positive / chill content is is quite active

Allero@lemmy.today on 07 Jan 05:03 collapse

Already part of it!

MBM@lemmings.world on 06 Jan 19:32 next collapse

!truecomics@midwest.social is cool and unique. Not as active lately though.

Blaze@feddit.org on 06 Jan 19:35 collapse

Did something happen to the main poster?

MBM@lemmings.world on 07 Jan 15:39 collapse

Yeah they had to focus on their studies

rimu@piefed.social on 06 Jan 20:01 next collapse

My cute puppy: !sophie@piefed.social

AA5B@lemmy.world on 06 Jan 21:31 next collapse

!bbq@lemmy.world

Blaze@feddit.org on 06 Jan 21:34 collapse

Wasn’t the last post 4 months ago?

AA5B@lemmy.world on 06 Jan 22:02 next collapse

Guilty.

Blaze@feddit.org on 06 Jan 22:41 collapse

No worries, hopefully BBQ enthusiasts will see this post.

If there aren’t enough, you can always cross-post your next post to !cooking@lemmy.world

the_crotch@sh.itjust.works on 07 Jan 13:39 collapse

Well BBQing is traditionally an American thing and it’s winter in the northern hemisphere

Blaze@feddit.org on 07 Jan 23:48 collapse

Time to find some Australian BBQers!

pseudo@jlai.lu on 06 Jan 22:07 next collapse

I made some interesting discovery but (and it is a big but), BUT where are the animals! Lemmy has so many of them:

!superbowl@lemmy.world is actually better than its Reddit counter part

We have !bats@lemmy.world, !opossums@lemmy.world and !pets@lemmy.sdf.org and !cats@addAnyInstance and cute animals at !aww@lemmy.world and !aww@lemmy.ml and insects at !awwnverts@lemmy.world. We have a !bun_alert_system@lemmy.sdf.org and a collection of !taneggs@lemmy.ca and so much more…

jaybone@lemmy.world on 06 Jan 22:28 next collapse

Superbowl has some excellent posts, and I’m like not even an owl guy (whatever that means.)

Coelacanth@feddit.nu on 07 Jan 00:12 next collapse

!crows@lemmy.ml is also fairly active.

pseudo@jlai.lu on 07 Jan 13:29 collapse

Yes… I also love the comics there.

Elevator7009sAlt@lemmy.world on 07 Jan 08:28 next collapse

Self-plug: !bunnies@lemmy.world, also active, posts don’t overlap with !bun_alert_system@lemmy.sdf.org

Also !snakes@lemmy.world, though I don’t run that one.

pseudo@jlai.lu on 07 Jan 09:15 collapse

We never got enough bunnies and snakes usually make beautiful pictures!

Chromebby@lemmy.world on 07 Jan 18:57 next collapse

Thanks for tan eggs! I never knew I needed this! xD

Creativity@lemmy.zip on 10 Jan 16:52 collapse

Both !dogs@lemmy.world and !birding@lemmy.world are pretty active.

pseudo@jlai.lu on 10 Jan 18:58 collapse

Thank you so much for !birding@lemmy.world

Creativity@lemmy.zip on 10 Jan 20:30 collapse

And thank you for the pets and bun_alert_system!
