Lemmy is a smaller site than Reddit, even before taking into account federation. So I cast a wide net here. A lot of specific popular shows like Futurama have dedicated communities, but I thought it’d be fun to have a generalized one

That’s strange. I’d be interested to know how and what you searched for so I can maybe improve how easy it is for people to find !animation@lemm.ee.
I typed “cartoons” and “animation” in the search bar, toggled to search all instances. Most of what I got were 4-panel comic stories
I like to promote topic-specific instances so also !anime@ani.social
