Neat!
Oh man…16 year old me is going to be SO excited.
For context, I’m 41.
I’ve tried going back and replaying GTA3 and the control scheme is so bad that I struggle immensely with it.
Did GTA III not have dual stick controls? If so, how does this address that?
This port works with dual sticks as you would expect. It’s not a vanilla GTA III, it’s based on Re3 project.
So it can’t be played on original hardware with an original controller?
On PS2 - yes because Re3 could be compiled for it. On PC it will work with modern controllers. It’s just a reverse-engineered port with some enhancements. But on Dreamcast - it depends on the port.
We’re in a thread specifically about the Dreamcast port. The controller has one stick. My question is, how do they get around only having one stick on the Dreamcast controller on the Dreamcast port
The dreamcast port is based on the mentioned Re3 (it’s a fork), which can becompiled on both PC and PS2. The author showed the gameplay on the original hardware some time ago. So I guess he adapted the controls as well. Sorry if I confused you.
Brother, you haven’t confused me. You’re all good. I’m a big fan of decomps, unofficial ports, and everything else. I just wanted to know one specific thing about the specific port. I’ll look into it later and try to report back with my findings
lol why
From my understanding, it was originally going to release on Dreamcast but they switched to PS2. I guess this/these guy/s wanted to see if they could bring the original vision to fruition
