Which ones are actually worth playing? I recall early castlevania games being hit or miss

NeoToasty@kbin.melroy.org on 15 Nov 00:35 next collapse

Castlevania and Castlevania III for the NES side.

Super Castlevania IV

The two Game Boy Castlevanias.

WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world on 15 Nov 07:13 collapse

There were three Game Boy Castlevanias.

NeoToasty@kbin.melroy.org on 15 Nov 13:42 collapse

Kid Dracula was more or less a port of the NES version onto Game Boy so technically doesn't count.

The only other one I can think of that you might be referring to is Castlevania Legends but they didn't bother bundling it with this collection for whatever reason.

WhoDestroysTheGond@lemmy.ca on 15 Nov 01:06 collapse

Simon’s Quest is a C- game with an A+ soundtrack

I’d like a counter of how many people have quit after not knowing where to go when you had to kneel in that one specific place for that specific amount of time to have a tornado come and take you whatever place it was.

SzethFriendOfNimi@lemmy.world on 15 Nov 02:00 next collapse

There was something in the manual if I remember correctly. Which you wouldn’t necessarily have if you rented the game.

Edit: just checked and I was wrong. Nothing in the manual. I must have been thinking of another game.

Well in anyone's defense, considering the time period that game was released in, how was anyone honestly supposed to know? If you didn't have Nintendo Power helping you and very limited internet access, of course it was very cryptic and very unnecessary.

QuarterSwede@lemmy.world on 15 Nov 00:30 next collapse

You have to share your email address with Konami for marketing purposes but they do disclose this in an obvious way.

Imprudent3449@lemm.ee on 15 Nov 01:06 collapse

You don’t have to click that button though. I got the free bundle without clicking it anyway.

QuarterSwede@lemmy.world on 15 Nov 01:18 next collapse

Now you tell me! Lol.

Kecessa@sh.itjust.works on 15 Nov 02:43 collapse

Same for all free games they give, it’s up to the user to give the publisher their email

NeoToasty@kbin.melroy.org on 15 Nov 00:32 next collapse

They also include the Japanese versions too.

Linktank@lemmy.today on 15 Nov 01:16 next collapse

Yeah but, it’s on Epic. So, pass.

it aint free for your pc, epic runs like garbage

Albbi@lemmy.ca on 17 Nov 17:14 collapse

The only issues I’ve had with epic is controller support being nonexistent. And no avatar icons.

I have quite a few free games from there, some I’d probably not have played. 20XX was free a while back and I just loved it. Then bought 30XX on Steam when it came out.

I ain’t going to give Epic a cent, but I’ll take advantage of their marketing practices.

Kecessa@sh.itjust.works on 15 Nov 02:42 next collapse

Boowoo, shut up if it’s all you have to share, no one cares

If you are on Linux, you can use heroic game launcher. I have way more than 100 free games from them, and some are really good games.

CrayonRosary@lemmy.world on 15 Nov 09:19 collapse

I thought people on Lemmy supported free software.

FooBarrington@lemmy.world on 15 Nov 09:29 collapse

Ooooh boy, that’s a nice one, almost got me!

sag@lemm.ee on 15 Nov 03:04 next collapse

Guys I am going to create an Epic Account Sorry.

daggermoon@lemmy.world on 15 Nov 08:43 next collapse

But that would require me to use the Epic game store.

MacNCheezus@lemmy.today on 15 Nov 12:30 collapse

You can use a third party launcher like Heroic to avoid having to install that bloated crapfest of an app.

daggermoon@lemmy.world on 16 Nov 06:50 collapse

I know, I mean I don’t want to stroke Tim Sweeney’s ego. Also, I just don’t trust the company.

MacNCheezus@lemmy.today on 17 Nov 03:44 collapse

I don’t trust them either, that’s why I’ve never given them a single cent. My entire account is literally just free games (and I have certainly gotten a few good ones over the years, although the vast majority is crap). If I’m actually going to buy something I’ll go to GOG or Steam.

You can’t just make a simple list on any site that uses markdown. It removes line breaks. Why? So some nerd can post an 80 character formatted email from a listserve and have it look normal in markdown. It’s archaic and stupid.

At any rate, this “feature” makes your list look like a giant paragraph:

Castlevania Castlevania II Simon’s Quest Castlevania III Dracula’s Curse Super Castlevania IV Castlevania The Adventure Castlevania II Belmont’s Revenge Castlevania Bloodlines Kid Dracula

You have to end each line with two spaces to force markdown to preserve the line breaks. Or you have to start each line with an asterisk and a space to make a bulleted list.

I’m going to fix it for you so other people can read it more easily, and also fix some of your typos:

Castlevania Castlevania
Ill Simon
Quest Castlevania
Ill Dracula
Curse Super
Castlevania is Castlevania
The Adventure
Castlevania II: Belmont Revenge’s Castlevania Bloodlines Kid
Dracula

WhoDestroysTheGond@lemmy.ca on 15 Nov 15:26 collapse

I made it a bulleted list and it looks better now, thank you.
