Games that weren't...but could have been.

Watching a recent Bringus video on finished but unreleased games for older consoles made me wonder - what games could/should have existed on older machines, but just never made it / weren’t ported.
Gauntlet (DS) and Diablo 1 (GBA) come to mind, though the former was leaked.
Doom was famously thought impossible by ID Software to port to the Amiga (but iirc, someone managed to do it just last year).
Any from back in the day you wish could have made it?
I maintain the Wii could have handled some version of GTA, and there’s a rumour that it (and FO3!) were in the early stages of development before getting nuked.

Mother 64 🥺
That probably wouldn’t have come out well. I remember hearing that they were rushing super hard to get the game out, to the point they’ve halved the amount of chapters in the game. GBA release resulted in a more complete game that visually aged better.
oof. yeah I’m glad they didn’t E. T. my favorite series
Beyond Good and Evil 2. And I mean the actual continuation of the story from 1, since, you know, the story had no conclusion and left the protagonists in deep shit.
I certainly don’t mean the absurd shit they presented long ago and never even realised. Because obviously what’s needed after 1 was “mostly multiplayer planer-sized open world prequel featuring new characters, probably mostly made of procedural content, and maybe you can enjoy it single-player too, who knows”.
APB.
Half Life 3. Someone had to say it.
Doom has not been ported to the Cray 1. It has the specs to do it on paper, but there are memory addressing issues that make it difficult.
Oblivion PSP Prey 2 Final Fantasy Versus XIII
There are several games that come to mind.
Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings was due to be released on mutiple consoles but the leaders were the Xbox360/PS3 versions.
One of the selling points was a unique ragdoll system which meant when you punched a bad guy, there was no set animation of them falling down. The ragdoll physics did it’s job.
There were several videos released during production, usually at E3 shows.
Sadly, the delays keeper getting longer. While there was no official release date, we wondered if they would tie it on to the release of Crystal Skull. The film came and went both theatrically and on home formats but no game.
Then one day, the first official trailer was released, I watched it with excitement. Then the gut punch, at the end of the trailer, it only had logos for PSP, Wii and DS.
Soon after, we learnt the game was cancelled. Some early rough gameplay footage is online.
Another is Star Wars: 1313. The game would tell the story of how Boba Fett became the famous bounty hunter and acquire the armour. This E3 trailer got me so excited.
I think the game was cancelled when Disney bought Lucasfilm.
Finally Star Wars: Rogue Leaders.
Essentially, the two Rogue Leader games from the GameCube remastered for the Wii.
According to an interview, this would have been pushing the Wii to it’s graphical limits, I think they mentioned 60fps.
There was also extra Wii enhancements such as lightsabre battles with Wii MotionPlus remotes and even using the Balance Board as part of ship controls.
If I remember rightly, the game was fully finished but they couldn’t find an interested publisher. He’s the trailer.
