What is this shit website

fuckwit_mcbumcrumble@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 15 Jun 22:35 collapse

A forum? You’ve seen forums before right?

dormedas@lemmy.dormedas.com on 15 Jun 23:34 next collapse

To be fair it looks horrendous on mobile, lots of overlays and ads

ryannathans@aussie.zone on 16 Jun 01:01 next collapse

Use something like Firefox web browser with ublock origin

RvTV95XBeo@sh.itjust.works on 16 Jun 04:20 collapse

Seriously. What ads?

Y’all know you don’t have to live in ad hell if you don’t want to, right?

dormedas@lemmy.dormedas.com on 16 Jun 04:35 collapse

I have Firefox on iOS and a DNS ad blocker and it’s still hell, what am I missing?

Edit: oops my phone was somehow un-set from my DNS blocker. Looks much nicer. Still one ad at the top for an app, but far less intrusive

Ahh good 'ol iOS. Firefox on Android allows you to install uBlock, but I think FF iOS doesn’t. I’d recommend maybe giving Orion browser a try, it looks like it has support for FF extensions (including uBO).

I unfortunately don’t have a ton of experience with iOS options.

tehmics@lemmy.world on 16 Jun 07:36 collapse

Yep no DNS blocker will stop fullscreen local scripts from running. This shit is why forums and the legacy web are dead

Zidane@sh.itjust.works on 16 Jun 01:16 collapse

Looks fine on mobile to me

Feathercrown@lemmy.world on 16 Jun 05:28 next collapse

This is what it looks like for me actually :P

A cookies popup with three (!!) clicks to reject all and one to accept all is pretty horrendous

tehmics@lemmy.world on 16 Jun 07:33 collapse

I’ve seen many a forum in my day, but I clicked the X before I saw one at that dogshit URL

aMockTie@lemmy.world on 15 Jun 23:53 next collapse

How does this differ from something like FreeMcBoot?

I get that this is better than the old titles.db + specific PS1 disc method, but FreeMcBoot memory cards already made that approach obsolete years ago. Is it just that it supports more models than the older exploits?

dormedas@lemmy.dormedas.com on 16 Jun 00:01 collapse

Universal is the reason

Strider@lemmy.world on 19 Jun 20:54 collapse

I do not understand, could you elaborate please?

I was under the impression the cards I have (1 regular with Mcboot and one sd adapter) would work universally.

Edit: ohh, this is about the 90k models isn’t it?

chrischryse@lemmy.world on 16 Jun 01:39 next collapse

Damn so this is only for the Japanese consoles?

Velypso@sh.itjust.works on 16 Jun 05:31 collapse

The post says “all”.

chrischryse@lemmy.world on 16 Jun 13:09 collapse

I saw that but seeing this threw me off

Breaking News in the PS2 Scene, as a NEW MemoryCard Exploit for Protokernel PS2s (SCPH-10000, SCPH-15000, and DTL-H10000(S)) just got released!!!”

calavera@lemmy.zip on 17 Jun 14:45 collapse

Maybe it existed before for other models and just those Japanese ones didn’t have the exploit yet

Feathercrown@lemmy.world on 16 Jun 05:29 next collapse

This is super cool

riquisimo@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 16 Jun 13:57 next collapse

So what can you do with this, run custom-burned DVDs? I’m used to modern consoles with menus and USB ports that can run games of off drives. I don’t even remember if the ps2 has a USB port.

SanguineBrah@lemmy.sdf.org on 16 Jun 14:57 collapse

It has USB 1.1, which is very slow. You can run software from a hard drive if you have a PS2 fat. It is also possible to run from a network share or a PS2 memory card to SD card adapter. Some methods are too slow to play FMV without skipping.

businessfish@lemmy.blahaj.zone on 16 Jun 14:13 collapse

that’s awesome!

i remember like 8 years ago now my college roommates and i had gotten a ps2 for cheap and we were trying to mod it with cogswap so we could play custom guitar hero songs. not sure if anyone here has ever tried it, but basically you stick something in the disc tray so that the disc will spin while the disc is still accessible, and at a certain point in the boot process you have to take the spinning disc out of the ps2 and replace it with a disc loaded with modded software REALLY fast.

we tried for hours but never got it working, so this is super cool! awesome that you don’t have to perform a physical feat of dexterity to mod your ps2 now lol
