Question - the scene in the thumbnail, of everyone hanging out around a fire - does (or where does) that show up in the game?

I played through recently and don’t remember coming across it. Not sure if I forgot or missed something obvious.

I don’t want to spoil this quest for you because it’s one of the most touching things in video games ever. This is a fairly spoiler-free explanation how to kick it off: …gamespot.com/…/16685-how-do-i-access-the-fionas-…

It only happens if you do the optional side quest in 600 AD, where you fight the monsters in the sand pit to restore Fiona’s forest, then go back to 1000 AD and go to the shrine. I’m sorry if you missed it, it has some of my favorite moments in the game.

Thanks all for the answers! I knew I didn’t do everything, I’ll make note of this one for future playthroughs. Wonderful game, I do feel like I’ll be coming back sometime.

You must. It’s pretty much as emotional as the game gets.

Did anyone else always name the characters after their “real” names: Nadia for the princess, Glenn for the frog, Janus for the Wizard, and R-66Y for the robot?

I also named the inventor “Tara” after her father.

Default names only.

I once loaned my cart to a friend, and looked at their save when I got it back. They named Crono “Punk”, I think Lucca was “Glass”, and Magus was “Goth”. Sadly I don’t have the save anymore and I can’t remember the others.

Edit: Also wasn’t there a typo or something when Robo is first introduced? Like R-66Y vs R66-Y? I tried to name him correctly once but messed it up because of that.

Isn’t Luca’s dad’s name Taban?

Weird to see them talk about how it’s related to secret of mana, which was almost FFIV, thus is basically a FF game but not just say “it was literally released under Final Fantasy Chronicles on PS1 so it’s basically a FF game.”

I never see anyone bring up Queen Leene in the conversation about how to pronounce “Marle”

I think it’s just “Marl” to make the connection to “Leene” feel more natural. “Marl | Leene”.

Marleen

Unless you pronounce it “Marlie” and “Leenie”.

I think the Italian Luca connection has to do with da Vinci being an inventor. That’s the connection I made when I was first playing it when it came out.

Interesting read! I always forget about how much a game’s localization team can have an impact on the experience.
