they forgot to model the aeromethane-spike from the cow fart.

I mean it definitely reduces over all drag.

abcd@feddit.org on 01 Jul 13:08 collapse

If we install a nozzle with a check valve leaving the methane out but no flames in, we could build pulse jet driven bionic cows.

This wouldn’t change the aerodynamics at all but definitely increase the cows speed and reduce the global warming effect a bit

Not sure if this is !spaceflightmemes@sh.itjust.works or !noncredibledefense@sh.itjust.works. Maybe a bit of both.

Venator@lemmy.nz on 01 Jul 11:51 next collapse

But is it more aerodynamic than a brick?

JohnDClay@sh.itjust.works on 01 Jul 11:59 next collapse

Is this is what happens when you don’t assume a spherical cow?

RecluseRamble@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 01 Jul 15:05 collapse

I thought you’re supposed to assume a vacuum.

mexicancartel@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 01 Jul 16:26 next collapse

Assume both otherwise we have to face center of gravity issues.

Maybe let the cow be a point mass?

LynneOfFlowers@midwest.social on 02 Jul 05:10 collapse

That does tend to simplify the aerodynamics modeling

Calculations are simpler if ……… you assume a spherical cow!

supercriticalcheese@lemmy.world on 01 Jul 19:59 next collapse

That is an assumption that a physicist would do.

user1234@lemmynsfw.com on 02 Jul 00:01 collapse

Cows can only be assumed to be spherical for thermodynamic purposes.

Thanks. If anyone in the future asks my opinion regarding breast size, I can safely say that a preliminary study has shown that, aerodynamically speaking, it is better to have large breasts.

CookieOfFortune@lemmy.world on 02 Jul 04:06 collapse

Only if you’re facing the wind directly. In other orientations it may not be ideal. The analysis appears incomplete.
