Even if we assume that he’s wearing a ladies shirt for a moment… Why does he have that stethoscope? Is this what doctors do when the patient is waiting in the exam room?

hemko@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 29 Jul 08:33 next collapse

Wait what, where did you get that ladies shirt?

azi@mander.xyz on 29 Jul 08:56 next collapse

Either the image is an accurate facsimile (DNA was wrong and the guy’s wearing a men’s size shirt (buttons are on his right side)) or the image was mirrored (DNA was correct and the guy’s wearing a women’s size shirt (buttons are on his left))

ImplyingImplications@lemmy.ca on 29 Jul 09:04 collapse

Shirt buttons are sown onto the left side of women’s clothes and the right side of men’s. The buttons on his shirt are on his right side.

I’m assuming OP means maybe the DNA model has the helix spinning the wrong way because the image was flipped horizontally, but that would cause the shirt buttons to be on the wrong side for men’s clothes.

Ziglin@lemmy.world on 29 Jul 17:55 collapse

So that’s why my shirts are inconsistent…

WHY IS SOCIETY LIKE THIS? I’ll have to make a shirt in which I alternate each button as revenge!

AFKBRBChocolate@lemmy.ca on 29 Jul 18:01 next collapse

Apparently it stems from the days when women had servants who helped them dress, while men generally didn’t.

sqw@lemmy.sdf.org on 30 Jul 00:07 collapse

every other button is both on the other side and facing inward?

blackbrook@mander.xyz on 29 Jul 15:03 collapse

You can tell what type a base pair is by listening to the tone it makes, but it’s very quiet so you need a stethoscope.

AlmightyDoorman@kbin.earth on 29 Jul 06:58 next collapse

It's obviously some smoothed Z-DNA

RejZoR@lemmy.ml on 29 Jul 07:07 next collapse

That’s clearly a selfie made with iPhone, which is why it’s mirrored…

LordWiggle@lemmy.world on 29 Jul 11:09 collapse

You see both his hands. So someone else would have to use the selfie camera but also make sure they are not in frame. I mean, it’s not impossible, but it’s highly unlikely. As much as I would like to blame Apple products, it’s more likely this is not a mirrored image but human stupidity. Seeing what’s happening in the world these days, I always assume everything is human stupidity unless there’s proof it’s a technical error or something. Although everything Apple related is also human stupidity.

rizzothesmall@sh.itjust.works on 29 Jul 07:20 next collapse

Most useful stethoscope ever

Nikls94@lemmy.world on 29 Jul 07:59 next collapse

Quick! How do we know he’s a doctor? He could be a scientist with this cost! We need a stethoscope!!

muntedcrocodile@hilariouschaos.com on 29 Jul 09:32 next collapse

OK very funny but its probably the camera doing a horizontal flip and the photographer not knowing to flip it back.

friend_of_satan@lemmy.world on 29 Jul 09:43 collapse

Judging by the buttons on his shirt, probably not.

jol@discuss.tchncs.de on 29 Jul 09:53 next collapse

He likes wearing female blouses and doesn’t appreciate your judgement.

muntedcrocodile@hilariouschaos.com on 29 Jul 10:05 collapse

I didn’t even think of that. That’s clever nice spot.

LordWiggle@lemmy.world on 29 Jul 11:04 next collapse

I once saw a shutterstock photo of someone using a large soldering iron on a motherboard, holding it like a pen (so holding the hot part). Stuff like this is so poorly done and fake, it’s at the level of porn acting.

javiwhite@feddit.uk on 29 Jul 11:42 collapse

Here is the sacred tome you refer too m’lord wiggle;

<img alt="" src="https://feddit.uk/pictrs/image/4a140460-f0ca-4f4d-8804-3c9d46556bd2.webp">

Seriously though, is this the one you were thinking of?

I’m fairly sure this is the original I saw; But searching for “woman, soldering iron” results in many copycats, so it’s hard to say if this is actually the one from back when, or if my mind just misremembers it as such.

vonxylofon@lemmy.world on 29 Jul 13:16 next collapse

Not OP, but I’ve seen this one years ago. Defo the one.

LordWiggle@lemmy.world on 29 Jul 14:53 collapse

Not the one I know, I’ve seen one with the woman wearing a hard hat 😂

vonxylofon@lemmy.world on 29 Jul 20:18 collapse

Hmm, I’ve spent quite some time in meme circles including 4chan back in the day, but I don’t remember one with a hard hat. Oh well, I stand corrected.

LordWiggle@lemmy.world on 29 Jul 20:38 collapse

Doesn’t matter, the idea is the same. Poor performance, perfect meme content haha

Venus_Ziegenfalle@feddit.org on 29 Jul 15:24 collapse

Saw her at the range the other day

shalafi@lemmy.world on 29 Jul 17:31 next collapse

Women will seriously try that! Astonishes me every time, like, have they never seen a rifle shot in a movie?!

OTOH, the women I’ve dated who escaped Mississippi could all shoot like Annie Oakley.

shalafi@lemmy.world on 30 Jul 00:20 next collapse

Haters: tHaSS seXistht!

Never trained a noob to shoot, huh?

JackbyDev@programming.dev on 30 Jul 06:42 collapse

Judging by how bad men are with women’s anatomy despite consuming so much porn I’m gonna say watching movies doesn’t give you any experience.

runner_g@lemmy.blahaj.zone on 30 Jul 04:39 next collapse

Cracked orbit in 3… 2… 1…

And009@lemmynsfw.com on 30 Jul 04:46 collapse

Black eye, coming soon…

melsaskca@lemmy.ca on 29 Jul 11:54 next collapse

That pic is valid because it’s a lab in Australia. Sheesh! Use some common sense.

blackbrook@mander.xyz on 29 Jul 15:00 collapse

If you hold the picture upside down the dna spirals the right way.

ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca on 29 Jul 15:50 next collapse

Wow, okay racist

hperrin@lemmy.ca on 29 Jul 22:32 next collapse

Flip it horizontally?

Soup@lemmy.world on 29 Jul 22:46 collapse

You could flip the image but the thing about a spiral is that it’s the same no matter you turn it around in space.

hperrin@lemmy.ca on 30 Jul 00:32 collapse

If you physically spin it, yes, it wouldn’t change its direction, but I was talking about flipping the image horizontally.

Empricorn@feddit.nl on 30 Jul 03:33 collapse

“That’s it, Dr Scientist, you’re not taking this seriously. YOU’RE FIRED!”

“Good! I’m a maverick, I don’t play by your rules! Fuck you, here’s my badge and my gun!”

“Wait, why do you have a badge and a gun!? We didn’t issue you those… You work in a lab!”
