A humorous meme shows a screenshot of the actor Matthew McConaughey in the movie Dazed and Confused. He is in a car, leaning forward, and gesturing with his hand as if he's explaining something to the passenger in the seat behind him, who is only partially visible. The text at the top of the image reads: "Me explaining to non-burrowing animals that they can escape the heat by adopting a subterranean lifestyle:". The text at the bottom of the image, which is a famous line from the movie, reads: "Be a lot cooler if you DIG".

I mean, yeah, but :(

The secret to staying cool in an era of ever escalating climate change, is to dig a hole, 3 ft wide, 7 feet long and 6 feet deep. The earth at those levels is much cooler, so the secret is to lie flat at the bottom of this and pull the displaced soil back over you, completely filling the hole.

You will be cool for the rest of your life.

I have wondered if I could do this and then fill the hole with hose pipes and pump water through it. The water can then go through a heat exchanger next to me and blow cool air at me. So basically a PC watercooling radiator, pipes and a pump.

You can, and you can even take it one step further.

I didn’t watch the whole thing, but that’s a pretty cool idea

Yeah, just not sure how deep you really need to go. I don’t really want to pay someone to do it but I have a spade I can dig with. Could get equipment if it doesn’t cost much but from what I can tell its generally quite expensive.

I do feel like the speed of the heat exchange might be a bit slower, even if the gradient is higher… though maybe a higher gradient faciliates the speed too

I whole heartedly recommend using this method to help make billionaires more comfortable. This will help the rest of us stay comfortable too!
