Which means 0.2% lied

zergtoshi@lemmy.world on 26 Nov 19:02 next collapse

At least 0.2% lied.

hsdkfr734r@feddit.nl on 26 Nov 20:00 next collapse

Or they retrieved the survey from the bin, after tossing the former into the latter.

Fermion@feddit.nl on 26 Nov 21:09 collapse

Or some portion of people generally prefer throwing surveys in the trash, but for unknown reasons decided to complete that one.

finitebanjo@lemmy.world on 26 Nov 19:03 next collapse

Technically theres always a bias of the most amusing answer so the “no” would be close to 5% at a minimum.

marcos@lemmy.world on 26 Nov 19:13 next collapse

Yep, no survey get 0.2% of any kind of response.

Hossenfeffer@feddit.uk on 26 Nov 19:28 collapse

0.2% of surveys get some kind of 0.2% response, especially if the survey is about statistics.

where_am_i@sh.itjust.works on 27 Nov 00:48 collapse

that’s not how it works. That’s not how anything works!

Percentile of a variable != level of that percentile.

Hossenfeffer@feddit.uk on 27 Nov 00:57 collapse

Pffft, only 0.2% of people understand surveys anyway.

smeg@feddit.uk on 26 Nov 19:49 next collapse

Sounds like the lizardman constant

MBM@lemmings.world on 26 Nov 21:13 next collapse

Oof I didn’t know that was a Scott Alexander thing

MonkeMischief@lemmy.today on 27 Nov 08:40 collapse

Why oof? O.o

Klear@sh.itjust.works on 27 Nov 08:25 collapse

That was an amazing read, thanks!

ZoopZeZoop@lemmy.world on 27 Nov 17:35 collapse

It’s also been shown that people often are bad a reporting accurately. So, your results may not be accurate just from that.

Clinicallydepressedpoochie@lemmy.world on 26 Nov 20:21 next collapse

I think it’s safe to assume if they didn’t respond they do not love responding to surveys.

Kalkaline@leminal.space on 26 Nov 20:51 next collapse

Also there’s at least a small set of respondents with fat fingers.

sorghum@sh.itjust.works on 26 Nov 21:17 next collapse

Yeah, that’s the real answer. 500 responses vs how many sent out

recapitated@lemmy.world on 27 Nov 14:56 collapse

Maybe. But if there were 10000 sent and 500 responses, that still isn’t enough information. You would need to know how many were even handled and perceived by the intended recipient.

But maybe you can work around this by canvasing in person rather than fire and forget.

moody@lemmings.world on 26 Nov 21:32 collapse

It’s almost like that’s the joke presented in comic form.

Clinicallydepressedpoochie@lemmy.world on 26 Nov 22:04 collapse

It’s almost like my comment was dripping with cynicism.

Survey:

  1. I always tell the truth in surveys

  2. I always lie in surveys

🙃

FilthyShrooms@lemmy.world on 27 Nov 01:31 next collapse

2 (I don’t normally but I am now >:)

fossilesque@mander.xyz on 27 Nov 02:08 next collapse

c0ber@lemmy.ml on 27 Nov 17:17 next collapse

how would the other respondent fill out this survey?

Anticorp@lemmy.world on 27 Nov 17:36 collapse

Okay, but how does this help me get past the gate?

samus12345@lemmy.world on 27 Nov 18:06 next collapse

“Would the guy on the right tell me that the gate you’re guarding on the left is the correct way?”

If the answer is yes, the right gate is the correct one. If the answer is no, the left gate is the correct one.

not_woody_shaw@lemmy.world on 28 Nov 06:25 collapse

Jump magic jump

Dayroom7485@lemmy.world on 27 Nov 17:27 next collapse

The MNAR crowd knows what’s going on in that survey amiright?

NutWrench@lemmy.ml on 27 Nov 18:22 next collapse

You won’t get any customer complaints if you make it impossible for customers to contact you in the first place.

0.2% margin of error.
