Yeah the Ideal Gas Formula is cool but what about the Ideal Electric?

potoo22@programming.dev on 23 Aug 06:17 collapse

P = IV

j4k3@lemmy.world on 23 Aug 06:46 next collapse

Lotus Evora in Alabama? Wat?

three@lemmy.zip on 23 Aug 07:26 next collapse

Are you only allowed to own certain cars in certain states?

j4k3@lemmy.world on 23 Aug 07:59 collapse

Super rare cars in the poorer states, where nonconformity is treated like cancer?

three@lemmy.zip on 23 Aug 17:45 collapse

They don’t have big cities in those poor states? No bankers, or lawyers, or CEOs, or car collectors, or construction contractors? Only the conformation police apparently…

This picture is shopped!!

CH3DD4R_G0BL1N@sh.itjust.works on 23 Aug 08:56 collapse

If this plate is legit not photoshopped, it’s a strong possibility someone working at NASA MSFC drives it.

ArbitraryValue@sh.itjust.works on 23 Aug 07:01 next collapse

You can have non-alphanumeric characters on license plates? What do the cops do if they need to catch you? Do they put out an APB for emoticons?

azi@mander.xyz on 23 Aug 08:10 next collapse

Use the cyrillic letter А on your licence plate instead of the latin letter A. All your speeding tickets would be mailed to someone else

abfarid@startrek.website on 23 Aug 09:22 next collapse

It seems that everybody who doesn’t know Cyrillic thinks that Д is the Cyrillic A…

[deleted] on 23 Aug 11:27 collapse

.

Wizard_Pope@lemmy.world on 23 Aug 09:33 next collapse

You do know the cyrillic A is just А(serbian) or А(russian)??

dreadbeef@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 23 Aug 10:24 next collapse

Meanwhile, the guy in the slave labor camp prison making your license plate: “Alright, thats an A, I’ll key in an A here”

Venator@lemmy.nz on 23 Aug 11:27 next collapse

Or the 🅰️ emoji

xthexder@l.sw0.com on 23 Aug 18:53 collapse

They already consider similar looking letters as the same. If someone has the license plate “OOPS” , if you try and register “00P5” it will say it’s taken.

'); DROP TABLE Tickets;–

ArbitraryValue@sh.itjust.works on 23 Aug 16:02 next collapse

I read an article once about a guy who got a NO PLATE licence plate and ended up being automatically blamed whenever a cop wrote in that a car had no licence plate. I wonder what 0X00000 would do.

ChaoticNeutralCzech@feddit.org on 23 Aug 19:12 collapse

NULL too.

ArbitraryValue@sh.itjust.works on 23 Aug 21:20 collapse

I think that’s what I was actually thinking of but I mixed it up.

xthexder@l.sw0.com on 23 Aug 21:45 collapse

They both seem equally plausible. “NO PLATE” would be officers writing it in, and if they left it blank the computer would turn it into NULL.

I bet “BLANK” could cause similar issues

bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de on 23 Aug 16:04 next collapse

Like the guy with the NULL plate who got all the tickets for which no number could be found.

null@lemmy.nullspace.lol on 23 Aug 18:35 next collapse

Truly a tragic tale.

This username means you also get “mentioned” a lot in big chatrooms where people post code/logs

Cethin@lemmy.zip on 23 Aug 22:08 collapse

Honestly, as annoying as that’d probably be, it’d also be great. You could likely argue any ticket was a mistake.

Thedogdrinkscoffee@lemmy.ca on 23 Aug 16:09 collapse

Little Bobby Tables got his driver’s license.

HBK@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 23 Aug 13:22 collapse

I don’t think you can? But, you can use a space and add an equal sign sticker instead

DontRedditMyLemmy@lemmy.world on 23 Aug 15:40 collapse

Are stickers allowed?

xthexder@l.sw0.com on 23 Aug 18:52 collapse

It might depend on the state, but I think anything other than registration stickers in the designated spot could count as a defaced license plate

kippinitreal@lemmy.world on 23 Aug 07:10 next collapse

Ideal *Gas car

Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 23 Aug 09:26 collapse

Which is, of course, fundamentally unideal if not antiquated.

frezik@lemmy.blahaj.zone on 23 Aug 11:29 next collapse

Fucking nerds think you’re so smart. Now excuse me, I need to figure out why my engine is knocking.

icelimit@lemmy.ml on 23 Aug 11:58 next collapse

Runs on neon or argon

Eheran@lemmy.world on 23 Aug 12:58 next collapse

Would be even better if the capitalization was correct. Always bugs me when people capitalize units wrong, but in this case it might have been mandatory.

shalafi@lemmy.world on 23 Aug 16:57 collapse

Have you ever in life seen lower case on a license plate? From any country?

ChaoticNeutralCzech@feddit.org on 23 Aug 18:11 next collapse

Not from any countries that signed the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic

Eheran@lemmy.world on 24 Aug 07:45 collapse

I have never seen an equal sign on any licence plate or road sign. What is your point? I already mentioned that too.

glowing_hans@sopuli.xyz on 23 Aug 16:08 next collapse

for those who do not get it, this is a reference to the ideal gas law pV = nRT the fact that at constant pressure and temperature the same number of gas molecules (ideal gas) will take the same Volume.

FilthyShrooms@lemmy.world on 23 Aug 16:39 next collapse

Soooo… fill with premium?

xthexder@l.sw0.com on 23 Aug 21:40 collapse

Definitely, that thing’s supercharged, so more pressure = more heat = more knocking

Laser@feddit.org on 23 Aug 19:29 collapse

Thanks, I immediately recognized it as a formula but couldn’t remember what it was for (in my defense, the last time it was relevant to me was about 15 years ago when I studied electrical engineering).

thatradomguy@lemmy.world on 23 Aug 16:11 next collapse

In computer geek world, pv can stand for physical volume which is used in maybe something like LVM for Linux platforms. TMYK

xthexder@l.sw0.com on 23 Aug 18:50 collapse

I thought you were going to say Photovoltaic cells (solar panels)

thejoker954@lemmy.world on 23 Aug 16:26 next collapse

So this person’s nickname is pervert, right? My brain just keeps turning it back to pervert lol

otikireht@lemmynsfw.com on 23 Aug 18:37 collapse

You saying this reminded me of my mom’s old custom plate she had when she was a nurse. She had XOX PRN, which would mean “hugs and kisses, take as needed” on a prescription. A gas station attendant made a comment about her loving porn once and she ended up getting rid of it.

stevedice@sh.itjust.works on 23 Aug 18:27 next collapse

Pancho Villa, don’t chicken out

xthexder@l.sw0.com on 23 Aug 18:44 next collapse

Are there even any states that allow an = ? I bet they drew that on with sharpie

kerrigan778@lemmy.blahaj.zone on 23 Aug 21:57 collapse

You’re a PVnRT aren’t you 😏

Lemminary@lemmy.world on 24 Aug 08:37 collapse

Crank up the heat and put me under full body pressure, cuz I’m about to blow. 😏
