It’s a funny way to put animals off - they might have the most sublime, healing and fascinating time or a completely terrifying one but the fact remains that because it takes the best part of an hour to kick in they will probably still have no idea what caused it.
Tell that to the reindeer known for enjoying Amanita Muscaria mushrooms.

As far as I’m aware, we still don’t know why they produce psilocybin. Something that takes 30+ minutes to begin affecting you seems like a poor defense mechanism.
We know with certainty that capsaicin does act as a deterrent against consumption, and capsaicin acts immediately…

Most of the ones with toxins strong enough to kill you won’t do so for months after you consumed it a single time. They know something about playing the long game.

It’s just a guess, but it’s probably protection against other species than mammals (psilocybin I mean)…
Regarding capsaicin, it’s protecting against (almost) everything that is isn’t a bird, birds don’t feel the capsaicin AFAIK.

That's like Capsaicin, which was supposed to deter mammals so birds could eat the fruit and "drop" the seeds in a distant place.

I know what you’re saying but also that’s not how evolution works. More of a case of “the reason why an adaptation proves advantageous may change completely over time.”
Shrooms make me feel so much more self-conscious when I’m tripping for some reason. LSD is much more enjoyable to me, but much harder to source as you can’t just grow it yourself from an internet kit.
And there’s such a thing as bad LSD, which really sucks. Those quasi-legal, almost LSD analogues often sold as genuine LSD, but with glitchy side-effects.
Legalized drugs can be regulated and quality-controlled, and should be. Fuck Reagan for many, many reasons, including his “war on drugs.”
That is a bit older than Reagan, war on drugs is a Nixon thing, but I agree with the general sentiment. Fuckem both.

And the marijuana stuff leads back to both the tobacco and wood fiber industries. Cannabis is a threat to tobacco, and hemp is a threat to darn near everything wood fiber is used for. That one even more so because it grows so dramatically faster than a new forest.
I have heard of this. I remember reading once that sailing ships used hemp for their cloth because it was plentiful and durable. No idea where I saw that though

Can you just go get a bunch of morning glory seeds and eat those instead?
They’re packed full of LSA, which feels very similar.
Store bought seeds probably have nasty pesticides all over them so I would not recommend this. Not to mention it takes a ton of morning glory seeds. If you really want to try this, I would recommend ordering some Hawaiian Baby Woodrose seeds.
That said…the mental and visual effects are very different from LSD, LSA has a MASSIVE body load that most people find extremely unpleasant, and the experience is many times coupled with hours of extreme nausea.
Depending on your country you may be able to legally or semi-legally be able to buy an LSD pro-drug (chemical that breaks down into LSD so is essentially the same thing) such as 1P-LSD or 1D-LSD.

Vasoconstriction is not the cause of the unpleasant body load from LSA or at least not the primary cause. Not to mention that there is no reason a “cold water extraction” would have any effect on the vasoconstrictive substance’s level of vasoconstriction. I also said in my previous comment it would have minimal impact on the nausea. Many psychedelics naturally produce nausea; NBOMes, mescaline, and 2C drugs to name a few.
Anyone taking LSA should do a CWE, it’s the only way that make sense. But the point of doing so is ease of dosing and removal of the nasty seed hull and plant oils that add all sorts of nausea to the already physically trying experience.
Saying doing a CWE of LSA is very similar is not accurate for all the reasons listed before, which is the only reason I jumped in. OP would be much better off searching for a legal/gray-market alternative like a LSD prodrug, other lysergamides like AL-LAD/ETH-LAD, trying other tryptamines like metocin or acetylpsilocin to see if he can avoid the undesirable effects he experiences from shrooms, or trying mescaline analogues if tryptamines just aren’t for him.
But if someone was to want to try LSA, buying HBWR is a vastly superior option to morning glory as a dose would be something like 3-8 seeds versus the hundreds you would need for morning glory. I can’t imagine it is easy to find hundreds of morning glory seeds at all, except covered in pesticide in the garden section of Walmart, while you can easily order HBWR online. Not to mention there is way less plant material to start with, making the entire process easier.

Also humans, including myself: willingly eats food containing high amounts of capsaicin, something chillies evolved to produce to prevent animals from eating them

Not all animals. Mammals (spicy, ow) and insects (insecticide). Birds are unaffected and are the pepper’s preferred “conveyance method” for their seeds. It’s neat!

Spice preserves, kills dangerous organisms in food. That’s why, the higher the average temperature, the spicier the food. Well, except maybe europe, it’s more olive oil and vinegar in the southern parts here.
The human regularly exposes itself to solar radiation and consumes flavoured liquid toxin for recreational purposes, and yet it does not die, instead it develops a tolerance to these hazards. Science team is reminded to take extreme caution when studying this lifeform.
