Just a perfect example of how business perverts the incentives and ruins everything

Yeah. Apparently that show has been going on for 18 seasons. 18 seasons of pseudoscience and shitty theories.

Yes, but the what in the goddamn fuck is spread through so many scientific fields.

Who: biology What: chemistry When: physics Where: geology, archeology Why? Philosophy

All these fields just because the universe exists. kind of beautiful if you ask me.

One could argue that the purpose of life is self knowledge. As a part of the universe, we are driven to understand it. More recently, we know that self exploration through therapy resolves emotional traumas. Travel and exposure to other cultures tends to create compassion for them.

I like to think of life as the universe reaching out and trying to know itself

Thanks, you just threw me into a “what the fuck is existence and why does anything exist?” spiral.

One of the things I’ve read about why things are the way they are is a comparison to probabilities, the thought is that similar to how there is one and only one way to roll a bunch of dice and have them come up all ones, there would be one and only one way for there to be “nothing” in the universe given the existence of any energy because of how many different ways energy can exist it’s much more probable that you get a jumbled pile of all kinds of different things.
Now as for the question of “where did all this energy come from” you have to realize that even the vacuum of space contains energy of some level and the 'visible universe ’ that is all of the matter that interacts with electromagnetic fields only accounts for a tiny fraction of the total energy we can detect so it’s likely that the energies that make up our matter and universe came from “somewhere else” … but then where did that energy come from and then it’s turtles all the way down

The Universe: Exists
Also the Universe: Doesn’t explain itself
Scientists: What in the goddamn fuck
Scientists: Tries to look for answers
The Universe: Not so fast *does everything in its power to stop the Scientists from figuring out how it all works, why it exists and is the way that it is.

I like to think of it as this super huge structure, with all these mysterious facets and faces cut into it. We found it, have no idea how to properly measure or capture it. We started as blind men, groping their eay through the dark, and now we’ve found ways to light a flame and to see the surface before us, but it’s so huge and there’s so many patterns layered over patterns that it’s uncomprehendingly beautiful and we have to continue to invent new tools and methods of processing what’s before us.
