How would you even pierce the skin like that with a micropipette?

porous_grey_matter@lemmy.ml on 14 Jun 12:19 next collapse

It doesn’t even have a tip on lol

stephen01king@lemmy.zip on 14 Jun 21:37 collapse

Would a tip even make a difference when it comes to piercing skin?

Flocklesscrow@lemm.ee on 15 Jun 00:20 next collapse

Just need more pressure. Like 120 psi micropipette

porous_grey_matter@lemmy.ml on 15 Jun 04:23 collapse

They’re quite a lot pointier, I think it would help

Zerush@lemmy.ml on 14 Jun 13:52 collapse

With enough force

stoy@lemmy.zip on 14 Jun 12:34 next collapse

Ok, so let me get this straight, the assistants are wearing full body heavy PPE, overalls, respirators and gloves, though the overalls and gloves are not connected together, nor are the assistants wearing any eye protection?

And the doctor injecting the patient doesn’t even wear gloves?

Kyle_The_G@lemmy.world on 14 Jun 12:36 next collapse

He’s using a pipette… even worse, with NO TIP! and in a random spot on the arm!

stoy@lemmy.zip on 14 Jun 12:38 next collapse

I get that, that was already discussed, so I wanted to focus on the confusing PPE situation

Kyle_The_G@lemmy.world on 14 Jun 12:40 collapse

well ya theres that too.

GargleBlaster@lemmy.world on 14 Jun 16:50 next collapse

Tip? You mean the protective pieptte-hat? (And yes, I’ve had med students call them that and trying to pipette without a tip)

Kyle_The_G@lemmy.world on 14 Jun 21:06 collapse

HA! Thats hilarious. I’m in med lab and love this stuff, the memes are top tier

SpermHowitzer@sh.itjust.works on 15 Jun 21:12 next collapse

It’s a Gilson pipette though. That’s the Rolls Royce of pipettes!

icelimit@lemmy.ml on 15 Jun 21:40 collapse

No, that’s an osteo-injection, the tip is deep inside her already. Given how thin her arms are, he probably misjudged and is about to dribble the poison onto his shoes.

Lumidaub@feddit.org on 14 Jun 12:37 next collapse

Whatever this is, it’s clearly a high-stress situation. They were in the middle of preparing when shit went down, cut them some slack.

stoy@lemmy.zip on 14 Jun 12:38 collapse

Fair point!

Eheran@lemmy.world on 14 Jun 12:59 next collapse

The pipette really takes the cake. Like what the fuck, have you never seen a syringe?

jodanlime@midwest.social on 14 Jun 13:31 next collapse

I’m guessing they wanted a futuristic cyber syringe and figured they could get away with this.

stephen01king@lemmy.zip on 14 Jun 21:36 collapse

I’m not sure a syringe would be allowed during filming such scenes. Maybe they don’t have the budget for a fake syringe prop.

Eheran@lemmy.world on 14 Jun 22:09 next collapse

You don’t have to put a needle on it, and there are non-sharp needles too.

DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social on 15 Jun 04:38 collapse

I’ll just let you know right now that there isn’t such a thing as a “safe narrow bit of metal” when you’re jabbing down at a flailing arm, even in acting.

sprite0@sh.itjust.works on 15 Jun 17:01 collapse

right so they use plastic and rubber and retractable tips and such they call it movie magic

blackbrook@mander.xyz on 15 Jun 23:42 collapse

Probably afraid of an Alec Baldwin incident.

[deleted] on 15 Jun 05:36 collapse

.

LaterRedditor@lemmy.world on 14 Jun 13:23 next collapse

Now I don’t even believe that pipette is properly calibrated!

Grandwolf319@sh.itjust.works on 14 Jun 13:45 next collapse

Ah yes, the cure to death is indeed a stab to the gut

Sunsofold@lemmings.world on 15 Jun 22:15 collapse

Death is like chicken pox, right? Deal with it once and you never have to worry about it again?

RisingSwell@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 16 Jun 00:36 collapse

Most people who die never die again, so I guess it kinda is.

Setarkus@mander.xyz on 16 Jun 19:14 collapse

Most people? (◕︿◕)

RisingSwell@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 17 Jun 00:14 collapse

Some people are revived and die again. Girl I grew up with died like 7 times, last I heard she was fine.

Setarkus@mander.xyz on 17 Jun 08:21 collapse

Oh yeah I forgot that can happen. No zombie apocalypse then (yet)

Midnitte@beehaw.org on 14 Jun 16:07 collapse

Looks like he’s using an autopipette without a tip to perform the injection…

JennyLaFae@lemmy.blahaj.zone on 16 Jun 03:46 collapse

Spotting things being used as props in movies is so much fun, thank you for this one.

Midnitte@beehaw.org on 16 Jun 16:53 collapse

Yep yep… Wonder if it’s this brand - not the same model since the button is a different color, but the tip ejector is similar.

Guess I better be more careful.

JennyLaFae@lemmy.blahaj.zone on 17 Jun 00:24 collapse

They’ll often use paint and/or make minor modifications to make things harder to recognize or spot :) could be a different model or it could have been missing a button in the prop room!
