Been experiencing some very bizarre bugs lately but this was the worst one yet.
I was doing a quest for Constellation in Neon Core and it required me to leave the area. Any time I tried leaving out of any exit, the loading screen appeared and then the game would crash to the desktop (Windows 11). From what I can tell, this didn’t get logged in Event Viewer either, at least under Programs or System, which I found strange. But maybe it does somewhere else?
I also tried fast traveling to another system or to a smaller area like a closed city, but the game would crash here as well.
I was about to delete all of my save game files when I decided I’d try loading up the same save from the Steam cloud on my Steam Deck. Doing so finally allowed me to leave Neon Core and venture wherever I wanted.
But saving outside of Neon Core caused my main gaming desktop to crash when loading that cloud save.
So what was my solution?
I lowered my settings from Ultra to Medium and the game now allowed me to load the same game save and venture wherever I wanted.
Also, I encountered the bug some of you have experienced where New Atlantis will randomly appear all distorted in space, but additional to this bug is New Atlantis stuck in eternal night, the automated store at the space port was missing and the ship technician was glitched in its place, and holes appeared around the port that allow you to glitch out of bounds (allowing you to exploit the hidden chests for various merchants). Turning down the graphics settings fixed the eternal night bug but the other bugs remain.
What’s weird to me is that I’ve been playing on Ultra with this setup for hours, but this suddenly appeared out of the blue with no warning. No major performance issues or any other similar issues.
So I guess if you experience some weirdness like I did, try turning down your overall graphics settings and see if that does the trick.
