DISCO S5 has been phenomenal

Two episodes to go. I’m gutted this is going to be the end, just as the show truly found its stride and grew the beard. Feels a lot like the end of Enterprise. Every season has been better than the last, and the earlier episodes were pretty good. I recently started rewatching S1 after getting an IRL friend into it and he’s absolutely loving it. DISCO gave us something unique and different, and if you ask me, Trek is a big enough tent to try new things sometimes, even if they don’t always work out the way they hoped.

If Michelle Paradise ever reads this - you’ve done incredible work and I’m sorry so many of the fans are haters. Looking forward to what comes next.

I’ve seen a lot of disagreement but I agree with you.

When Discovery was first announced, I thought the Crossfield class ship was the ugliest thing I had ever seen. At this point in time, I can’t believe we only have two episodes to go. I’ve become more attached to Discovery than I was with Voyager. It is probably wishful thinking, but I hope we see Discovery and her crew once in a while in the Starfleet Academy show, maybe a straight to Paramount+ movie in a few years.

I really enjoyed season one and the ending to season 4 is probably my most favorite set of episodes in all of Star Trek. I feel like the shows wings are getting clipped right after they grew.

I’m in the odd camp of believing the first season was the best. It was just so different. I didn’t dislike the changes and was just happy to have something fresh on screen. I thought the klingons were great too.

I think it’s great that every season has its fans - I’m a season three guy, myself.

Season 3 is my second favourite. Again, because it’s was all new

I think season one did everything great except the plot which felt like they were trying to do 100 things at once. I was happy to see by time season 4 came around they calmed down and focused on one story much better.

Flyberius@hexbear.net on 18 May 2024 17:03 collapse

Maybe yeah. But it was also a longer season with 16 episodes I think. I looked that there were quite a few stand alone episodes or mini arcs.

The Jeff Russo Klingon score is a work of art too

Definitely. Zero complaints with the score, sets, uniforms, etc.

love the characters and casting but the narratives of disco leave me wanting something else

Right, especially season 4 and season 5 were (are) phenomenal! Genuinely, without any irony or sarcasm, I must say that imo, the last 15 or so episodes of Discovery are some of the best Trek ever made

Edit: spelling

So glad to see this opinion, I think season four is one of the best seasons of trek out there, and it’s weird because I think 1-3 are not great at all. I feel the same way about Enterprise.

Corgana@startrek.website on 18 May 2024 16:44 collapse

Agreed on all counts! I was personally not a big fan of S1-S3 at all, but S4 really blew me away and this season is even better. It really sucks that they decided to stop it after it finally found it’s flow. Like you said I am at least glad they experimented with something different.

I’m sorry so many of the fans are haters.

The motivation of the people that watch a show they don’t even like, then write about it online just blows my mind.
