It made fun of Trek fandom but the fans failed to notice.

It made fun of Trek fandom but the fans agreed and laughed along.

but the fans failed to notice

Why do you think this?

ilinamorato@lemmy.world on 23 Dec 17:48 collapse

It’s been on Trek fandom lists of best movies because the fans noticed.

Trek fans prior to 2010-ish tended to not take themselves too seriously. They took the show seriously, sure (maybe too seriously) but not themselves.

Yup. We also laughed at Shatner’s get a life sketch, and dozens of gags from Futurama and Family Guy.

The ways humans engage with their personal fascinations are often inherently ridiculous, and everybody ought to be able to laugh at that.

Yep, that was a good movie.

state_electrician@discuss.tchncs.de on 23 Dec 16:54 collapse

It still is a good movie.

Miners, not minors!

That was a hell of a thing.

By Grabthar’s hammer…what a savings.

So many good quotes in this movie! I could go on and on and on 🤣

chahk@beehaw.org on 24 Dec 01:02 next collapse

I still say it’s the best Trek movie ever made.

Unironically this movie is in my top 5 favorite trek movies. It counts.
