TL;DW:
It’s been 3 years since Neofetch received updates and the repo has been officially archived since Apr 26, 2024.

Thank you to @exu@feditown.com for the additional recommendation, which I’ve added to this post✨

Why is it so hard for the newer generations to just write a short article about what they want to say? It’s so boring watching clips that say so little…

it’s why I made the TLDW summary as I wanted to save everyone’s time🤗

Thanks for that, but the question still stands.

An active fork (last I checked) would be hyfetch.

recursive_recursion@programming.dev on 19 Jun 03:46 collapse

thank you!
I’ve added hyfetch to the post🤗

sorry I didn’t do it earlier, had to deal with family stuff!

Well, first there are a million active forks.

Second, it’s literally useless. It just shows your PC specs so when you screenshot and share it online people can know that you could afford that specific hardware. E-penis 2.0

I’ve used it plenty of times for other reasons. I can never remember what kind of CPU I have and it tells me. I can’t even remember how much RAM I have, and it tells me that, too.

I’m sure the next thing someone is going to do is tell me the individual commands to find that info, but I can’t be bothered with that.

businessfish@lemmy.blahaj.zone on 19 Jun 01:11 collapse

hey its me the guy you predicted would tell you the thing you said i would tell you

the reason people say neofetch is useless is because the information it gives you is not very detailed when compared to something like inxi for example

7eter@feddit.de on 19 Jun 10:30 collapse

isn’t screenfetch much older than neofetch?

noodlejetski@lemm.ee on 19 Jun 11:09 collapse

yes, that’s why there’s “neo” in the latter’s name.
