DJI requires that their cameras be activated and registered with DJI – using their app and an internet connection – before the cameras can be used. This is user hostile.

Yes. Insta360 is the same and new gopros might lean in that direction as well.

At least some users defending that practice claim this is to get a proper start date for the warranty period. Even if that is true it is really shitty.
