I always talk shit about my country (Indonesia), but Indonesia really is not a fascist state anymore. Seriously. Your information might be out of date as of 2023. Just tell me why you think Indonesia is a fascist state and I’ll see if it’s still applicable now.
Hey, I don’t have any information about Indonesia specifically; all I’m saying is that if you ask someone if the country they live in is fascist, you’ll get one of three “no”s:
They’ll say no, because it isn’t.
They’ll say no, because it is but they like it, and they know what a bad connotation the word has.
They’ll say no, because it is and they don’t like it, but they know what a ban connotation the word has and they don’t want to be locked up for it.
When you kill people who say otherwise… all there is left is people who praise you… either out of fear or out of stupidity.

This is like saying Germany is a fascist state because of the Nazi which are already gone a long time ago.
Edit: why the downvotes? The people referenced in the Act of Killings documentary are either no longer in power or long dead. The golfing dude who look important are just head of some gang organization who have a bad reputation among Indonesian people that know him (most don’t), not an elected government official. How is Indonesia a fascist state when every election periods we have two presidential candidates with very close vote counts?

It’s a tropical country with great food, welcoming people and beautiful landscapes, so I can imagine a few reasons why. The laws and proneness to natural disasters are less than ideal, though.

Digital nomad in Indonesia here. People are friendly, food is great, scenery is beautiful, and weather is cool but not cold this time of year. I wouldn’t live here full time, but I wouldn’t live anywhere full time (because I am a nomad!).
I don’t agree with many of the laws here but that is true of pretty much everywhere.

The only step up is a full on fascist country like China or russia.
You meant to say USA, since you decapitalised the first letter of Russia? Indonesia is a fascist country with a historically documented genocide of communists in 1965. Sounds like you are a white saviour who has no business trash talking any country.

You are confusing fascism with imperialism. Netiher China or Russia is fascist state despite of what some shitty non-scientific sources say. However it’s not hard to see increase of fascist movement in Russia (which could become a huge problem in post war Russia no matter the result of the war), but also in some other European states or even USA (Republicans come to mind).

wasn’t x.com what musk wanted paypal to be named way back? And the domain his all the time? And right now x.com just refers to twitter.com. So users shouldn’t be impacted by x.com domain block? What du I know … glad to not be on that hellsite.

Exactly. Other sources are saying musk held the x.com domain since he got it 20 years ago. And it was not hosting adult content.

I’m in Indonesia. When the rebrand announcement happened I checked x.com and it was indeed blocked. But twitter.com worked fine (I mean, worked just like you’d expect a garbage dump to).
I checked a couple days later and it was the same. Now both work correctly.
If twitter.com got blocked it must have been for a very short period and at a weird time. I can’t imagine a redirect from a previously unrelated website triggering a block.

I was kind of wondering how long it would be until something like this happened.
When we talk about something we watched on Facebook, most people would call it a Facebook video.
When talking about something we watch on YouTube, people usually call it a YouTube video.
It’s probably only be a matter of time until someone tries to find a (formerly twitter) video and ends up on xvideos instead. I could totally see a lot of non-tech-friendly people accidentally doing that, and then telling all of their friends/family that (formerly twitter) is now just full of nudity and porn.

That’s pretty’s strict it’s just a letter
That letter is the gateway to porn.
I mean sure but it’s a single lute i’d get it if it was xxx
I think you accidentally posted about lutes, twice.
I meant to type letter
We know what you really meant. You filthy luteite.
(DM me frets)
I mean sure but it’s a single lute i’d get it if it was xxx
You will Never get to XXX if you don’t accept this first X. Say no to X’es.
Never trust your x.
X gonna give it to ya
True
X. Not even once.
Gen X here. We’re fucked.
Indonesia is just bizarre. They’ve got the most draconian and nonsensical laws. The only step up is a full on fascist country like China or russia.
Other than being cheap, I don’t understand why so many digi nomads want to live there.
I don’t know how much you know about the political history of Indonesia, but it’s already pretty much a fascist state.
Check out The Act of Killing. It’s brutal.
It was, it no longer is.
How come you say that? Genuine question. Seemed to me like the people who did or supported the mass murders of Leftists were still in power.
Ask anyone in Indonesia if their country is fascist. Or better yet, go visit Indonesia and check by yourself.

The article clearly states that the government was talking with Twitter to resolve the problem. Companies don’t want downtime. It was a dumb move.
