Not working for me, just getting error messages when trying to redeem …

Ethalis@jlai.lu on 03 Aug 16:11 next collapse

Same Edit : found a workaround by looking up the issue. Go to this page www.gog.com/cart/add/1486951595

It should add the Freedom to Buy Games as a free item in your shopping basket, which you can then add to your account

relativestranger@feddit.nl on 03 Aug 16:32 next collapse

this worked. was already logged in. loaded that link in a different tab, went back to the other and refreshed. saw the cart had something, loaded it and was able to check out.

ordnance_qf_17_pounder@reddthat.com on 03 Aug 16:43 next collapse

Worked for me, thanks. I will jerk off in your honour

rotkehle@feddit.org on 03 Aug 17:30 collapse

works for me. thanks

mbirth@lemmy.ml on 03 Aug 16:12 next collapse

That’s their servers being hammered at the moment.

vodka@feddit.org on 03 Aug 17:08 collapse

Really taking a pounding.

Don’t worry, step-brother is on the case and currently extracting the servers from the washing machine.

AnotherSmutAccount@lemmynsfw.com on 03 Aug 16:16 next collapse

It might be that there is a region lock or something. It only worked for me after connecting via VPN to the NL. And then it still complained but the games showed up in the library

carbs@lemmy.world on 03 Aug 18:56 collapse

If any one of the games are banned in your country, you will get an error.

This page lists what’s banned where: support.gog.com/hc/articles/29306002386845

Two of the games were banned in my country, so a quick VPN to the Netherlands and the “purchase” went through.

I did log a support ticket with GOG and they referred me to the KB article above.

Mwa@thelemmy.club on 04 Aug 12:05 collapse

Makes sense
My country bans NSFW so i had to vpn my way to UK
i didnt get the offer for the porn games but for Postal 2

the horniest of them all

ordnance_qf_17_pounder@reddthat.com on 03 Aug 16:20 next collapse

This whole saga might just inadvertently make porno games explode (heh) in popularity. I’ve never played one myself, but if GOG is giving some away for free, I’m going to download a few and see what the hype is about.

PushButton@lemmy.world on 03 Aug 16:59 next collapse

That’s a good timing. I’m looking at my calendar and I am due for my workout session anyway…

VonReposti@feddit.dk on 03 Aug 19:54 collapse

You got a calendar for that? I only got a watch to keep track of my sessions

Whirling_Ashandarei@lemmy.world on 03 Aug 17:18 next collapse

My mindset exactly, may we well see if the juice is worth the squeeze, if you will.

takeda@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 03 Aug 17:21 next collapse

I haven’t played it, but people say Being a dik game is quite good.

swelter_spark@reddthat.com on 03 Aug 17:37 next collapse

I picked up a few that I’ve been wanting to try.

Cethin@lemmy.zip on 03 Aug 19:01 next collapse

Just a heads up, because of payment processor stuff, most are free on itch.io right now also.

Zorque@lemmy.world on 03 Aug 19:59 collapse

As I understand it, those were ones that were already free (to an extent, you could still pay if you wanted to before this).

Cethin@lemmy.zip on 04 Aug 00:14 collapse

A lot were, but not all. I believe Itch made the decision to allow this type of content only if it’s free for now though, so a lot has gone totally free (with the option to donate).

I’m not totally sure on any of this, because this content is not something I follow, but I think I heard this is the case somewhere here recently. I could be wrong.

ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.de on 03 Aug 20:49 next collapse

Well I hope you don’t bust while playing Postal 2. Not really any sexy stuff on there, but you can dump gas on people, burn them alive, and then piss on them.

Also, cats can be used as suppressors.

relativestranger@feddit.nl on 03 Aug 21:06 next collapse

don’t forget to pick up the original, which is also free. i put in way more hours into it than i care to admit when it was a new game.

www.gog.com/en/game/postal_classic_and_uncut

ordnance_qf_17_pounder@reddthat.com on 03 Aug 22:23 next collapse

Postal 2 is legendary, played the whole game right through! I love the Asian ALL AMERICAN grocery store with the interesting stuff upstairs lol

ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.de on 04 Aug 02:22 collapse

I can’t remember if it was p1 or p2, but I remember having to fight Gary Coleman. Lol

BigPotato@lemmy.world on 04 Aug 11:57 collapse

That’s Postal 2 - I think an early day of the week like day 2. Having to go to the mall and wait in line.

ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.de on 04 Aug 13:54 collapse

Yep. I remember it being in the mall for Coleman’s book signing. I also remember that they actually got Gary Coleman as the voice actor.

Bonesince1997@lemmy.world on 03 Aug 22:31 collapse

I’m rewatching some Criminal Minds. You’d be surprised/horrified at what some people bust to. The main word of that show is sexual sadism. That said, this one does stand out among the other games lol

Serinus@lemmy.world on 03 Aug 23:01 next collapse

I’ve heard good things about Hunie Pop. So far it’s… uncomfortably sexist. But I guess what do you expect. I’ll give it a shot.

whalebiologist@lemmy.world on 04 Aug 00:18 collapse

It was published in 2015 and it feels like it was written in 2007, I find it mostly funny but I agree it’s not be the best ambassador for the genre.

Philokins@lemmynsfw.com on 04 Aug 14:15 collapse

I’ve played Being a ΔΙΚ, House Party, and Fetish Locator, and they’re pretty great. Heard good things about Hunnie Pop and Leap of Faith.

TachyonTele@piefed.social on 03 Aug 17:22 next collapse

Most of these games are about something we call "sex". Obviously you're not interested in that.

generator@lemmy.zip on 03 Aug 17:26 next collapse

Yes, im very interested watching digital characters having sex

AbidanYre@lemmy.world on 03 Aug 17:27 collapse

They also typically only do one at a time.

This isn’t even a read the article moment. It’s a read the second half of the headline moment.

JoMiran@lemmy.ml on 03 Aug 17:11 next collapse

I read up a little on what’s on offer and it seems that the Leap of Faith game is actually quality, story driven, and deals with heavy subjects like bipolar depression , body image problems and more.

Hunie Pop is actually a valid puzzle game on its own merits, with a surprising amount of strategy involved.

Bruhh@lemmy.world on 03 Aug 20:16 next collapse

Double check your library. I kept getting errors but they did redeem

TheGoodforNothing@lemmy.world on 03 Aug 21:10 next collapse

I used this link. Just logged in and they were redeemed.

ctenidium@lemmy.world on 03 Aug 21:12 next collapse

Most of the games are forbidden in Germany, so you have to redeem one by one:

One or more games from the Freedom To Buy offer is banned in your country. If you are in one of the countries below, please go here: support.gog.com/hc/articles/29306002386845 This article contains codes to redeem the games one at a time, and will allow you to redeem those games which are available in your country

I’m going to out myself a little bit in praise of the horny games genre. I enjoy comedies, and I’ve had more laughs while playing these games than anything else I’ve watched or played in the last few years. So many horny games put you in a place to have good, light hearted fun. Being a DIK (included in the bundle) has so many great moments with Derek and Hell week especially. Being a DIK probably has the best soundtrack and needle drops in all of gaming. Hunie Pop’s dialogue is also incredibly funny. If any of this kindles your interest in the AVN genre, make sure you play Eternum.; it’s far and away the funniest game and some of the best times I’ve had by myself wearing my headphones and cackling like a madman.

AVN devs are virtuosos of game design. They are pouring their souls into making these experiences no one will ever hear about because of their sexual content, and subsisting on mainly donations.

They should let people buy credits… Then redeem them for the game they want.

TachyonTele@piefed.social on 04 Aug 08:04 next collapse

That's just called buying a game.

Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works on 04 Aug 11:36 collapse

Yeah but with extra steps to give the company plausible deniability.

plant@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 04 Aug 11:52 next collapse

I sure do miss Microsoft points

brsrklf@jlai.lu on 04 Aug 13:32 collapse

Or Wii points. With craftfully engineered payment options and prices so that emptying your account was a puzzle where you always end up buying something you didn’t really want.

Combined with star points in Europe, the loyalty reward points that you couldn’t use for anything for years… And then they let you exchange them for Wii points, at a ridiculously low conversion rate, and you’re struggling to use those again.

plant@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 04 Aug 21:50 collapse

Only other one in the thread that gets it lol

cyberpunk007@lemmy.ca on 05 Aug 14:33 collapse

That won’t help. The CC companies will still be facilitating the purchasing of the products which exist on the site.

Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works on 05 Aug 21:35 collapse

Then reduce amount off during sales and give people bonus credits whenever they buy something. Bonus credits can be used wherever…

Or… They can create their own crypto coin and people can buy that with dollars. Visa and MasterCard don’t stop people (although do charge a ridiculous fee) from buying crypto already, which can be used on all sorts of more nefarious dealings.

We can get even more convoluted if we need to.
