I like it.

Any bets on how long until this repo gets nuked?

SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world on 24 Jun 17:23 next collapse

Time to (a) fork it (b) stop using GitHub

And don’t just fork it on GitHub, if the original repo gets deleted, any forks might too.

Also do a git clone locally, or set up a mirror on another host.

Not long at all. Add criminal charges and extradition orders by LA prosecutors against the devs for good measure.

I’ve got a backup of it, as others should too if they’ve got their own git forge git.ngram.ca/mirrors/lapd-face-search

considering all the protest cops shooting rubber bullets at civilians wear masks, i dont think thisll work on them

Even_Adder@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 24 Jun 19:04 collapse

Record them anyway. There’ll be more ways to de-anonymize them in the future.

China demoed tech that can recognize people based on the gait of their walk. Mask or not. This would be a really interesting topic if it wasn’t so scary.

I like the idea, but it won’t work when the vast majority are already covering their faces, and this will probably be used to further justify covering their faces.
